World in Conflict

World in Conflict

IF THE GAME WON'T LAUNCH-READ THIS FIRST
1) Right click on the game in your Steam list
2) Select "Properties"
3) Go under the "Local Files" tab
4) Click "VERIFY THE INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE"

You will probably find several files have been corrupted. Steam will update them for you. Then you should be able to launch the game.

AFTER THAT:

Go to the directory:

C:/users/(Your Name)/My Documents/World in Conflict

Open the file: "Game Options.txt" using Notepad

Locate the command "myDX10Flag 1"

Change it to "myDX10Flag 0"

Unfortunately this does not work in all cases. I've verified the game cache three times and the game will not launch. Games Options.txt is not being generated.

Are you launching World in Conflict or Soviet Assault?
Everything mentioned in this guide is to be used on World in Conflict and not Soviet Assault.
I had the same problem until I noticed that.

Even following this thread, it's reported that the crashing still occurs and this may bring temporary relief at best.

it wont work all it does it is re download the same files over and over again i have windows 7 64 bit and i get as far as the window popping up saying here is the key now click play i do so and nothing happens it tries to load the game but fails to do so i i have varified the game cache several times and everytime it says download 1.3Gb i do than re check the cashe checks 1 of 2 and it continues to ask me to download. Now here is what i also noticed in the game folder is 6.43 Gb when it asks me to download that 1.3gb on steam the folder is at 5.0gb its strange its like its reverted files back and wont accept them.

I had the same issue after I did the game cache.
The window with the game key just kept popping up, over and over.
So, I uninstalled the soviet addon and tried again. This time it went into the game!
Then it locked up right as the menu loaded :(
I went to the game directory, and found the game option.txt, made the change and I just loaded it up and it works!

My gameoptions.txt already has Flag 0, what do I do now?

Just uninstall WiC and keep WiC SA

I tried to contact Ubisoft about this, but when I go to post a question it refuses to actually post anything and forces you into the useless FAQ section. If anything else has any luck or is having similar problems, please let me know.

I tried that too, haven't responded. I asked them on Monday. But, you can uninstall WiC and Reinstall WiC SA ONLY! Then you verify the game files and you should be able to play the Soviet Missions and Regular missions

Are you running 8.1 as well?

Tried it on windows 7 and 8.1.
This game worked fine before, so unless a patch was sneaked through I'm apt to speculate the distributor played a factor in this.
