Windows 7 64 bit
Can this game be played in Windows 7 64 bit ?.
I am not sure if there is a conflict on my end, can't se what though but the demo crashes everytime I click on new game, options, so on..

I know it does not state windows 7 I was just curious if anyone with 64 bit had any issues or work arounds ?

I did try the dx10flag but it defaults it back to 1 when I change any graphics settings, informing me I am using dx 10 rendering. and crashes then on.

Which is odd because the game supports dx10 rendering.

I am playing it on Vista 64-bit and haven't had any problems besides the install both, uninstall one, verify cache, then the DX10 fix. I haven't monkeyed around with any other graphics settings either though (except resolution I think). I was under the impression that being an older game it only supports DX9 and that was the reason for the DX10 fix, but I'm not sure. Note also that I uninstalled Soviet Assault and I am only playing original WiC. I don't know if that makes any difference. It's a royal pain in the...neck that they are selling this game with such a messed up install. I think it's turning a lot of people away from playing it, which is a shame, because there are a lot of new players on multiplayer and it would be so much better with a lot more. I think it's a great game because you have to use your head and play as a team, and the learning curve is quite steep on multi. I must have seen a thousand posts about this janky install/how the hell do I make it work? nonsense.

Thanks for the info, I only mentioned dx 10 due to the graphics options have a box to check for dx 10 so I would assume it meansit is dx 10 capable.

to be honest I have like 40 $ spare and was looking at a few games, but think I may just go with with farcry 3 and settlers paths.

I've had the original disc version work fine on a 64-bit W7 (Also various version of Vista and XP).

If you can't get the demo working on YOUR machine don't buy it. In all honesty this is still an awesome game. Sadly no news on WiC 2 and IIRC Massgate will close in a year. Don't know if MP will be possible after that. Could be it will be moved to Steamworks but you can never be sure.

I installed this yesterday on Win 7 64bit.
Couple of hoops to jump through.
1) had to re-verify game files (which downloaded another 6 files).
2) had to amend the text file for the dx10flag.
It's all been working fine. not a single crash.

I did manage to get the game going in the end, but for the rig that I have, I don't want to play it in "dumb down" settings.
Game defaults me to dx10flag if I change settings, so it's an oh well for now.

I ended up playing FF14 RR beta on my ps4, for some reason I can't get into those type of mmo's and no voice in cut scenes makes it feel empty for me.

Note on the suggested fixes:

(1) The DirectX 10 fix won't work unless you have a version of DirectX 9 installed.

(2) You must have the latest patch (ver. 1.011) installed.

(3) I've only gotten this to work with the original WiC, I haven't gotten the latest WiC: SA patches yet. Plus, I've been experimenting on the retail versions, not the Steam versions.

Other than that, I have been successful in getting WiC to work on a Win 7 64-bit computer.
