The Will of Arthur Flabbington

The Will of Arthur Flabbington

This game is a prime example of moon logic and I love it for that (spoilers).
I've been playing a lot of recent adventure games.

They are almost uniformly too easy. If you see a locked chest, odds are there is a crowbar lying around in the same room.

In TWOAF, 3/4ths of puzzles are based on pure convoluted moon logic, which is a lovely callback to Sierra and Lucasarts adventure games of yore. Need to turn up a radiator? Possess 3 people with a ghost, causing them to eat donuts.

Out OR in context, this makes absolutely no sense and is sheer joy. I even had to use a walkthrough for figuring out how to find the grandfather's grave, which was obscure as hell.

Nice game, all in all.

Phew, at first I thought it was a complaint 😅 usually people say that moon logic is what makes adventure games awful, but they intend it in the sense of "puzzles that make no sense".

It does make sense in context though 😛 there are in-game reasons why you can only get a wrench like that. And if you disagree, shall I remind you that we're talking about a world class award winning 5 star plumber here? How dare you disagree with him! 😁

Yeah, I like this game for being very much not obvious. A lot of the puzzle solutions are almost Sam and Maxy in their absurdity, which is very refreshing to see in an age where the adventure game genre has become too easy by half.

So congrats on making an adventure game that is actually hard, is what I think I am saying.

I agree that games nowadays have become a bit too easy, that's why I worked on making a very hard one 😁 thanks a lot

Madre de dios! EL BESTIA ROJA!

*intense Spanish guitar riff*

Nice Monkey Island callback.

Finished it - pretty damn funny final joke and nice to end the game as it started, even if I had to spoiler it. I realised I had to exorcise the uncle with his favourite things, but forgot all about there being an elemental order to the stuff I needed to add.

Other than that, I had to spoiler 2 puzzles in this fairly challening adventure game:

1. The purple dye puzzle

2. The blonde dye puzzle

Highly moonlogical, but makes sense for as long as you take the descriptions on the bottle literally. Other than that, good job on this game. I will definitely buy more games from the same developer.

Oh, and I also had to use a walkthrough to pass the first chapter, but that was mainly due to me not seeing a required object lying in full view on the medium's table. If you're making more adventure games, PLEASE add an object highlight hotkey. Those are honestly essential in this day and age.

Thanks, glad you liked it 😁 I agree that the dyes are a bit far fetched but I felt like they made sense in the context of a very silly game

To be honest, the problem with the fan is a gameplay structure issue rather than a hotspot one - my goal was to have people have the need for it before making it so that she puts it on the table. So when she's still using it, players would notice it (it's a repeating animation with sound cue after all) and will try to get it.

But I failed miserably in that, because most people make her put it down even before knowing it could be helpful, they forget about its existence, and now they have to resort to seeing it on the table.

Never saw it in the first place, had to consult the walkthrough telling me to get it off the table before even noticing it.

That's the point, she'd be using it often if the candles are lit. But since turning them off is very easy, most people don't even notice. She does during the initial cutscene, but people aren't paying attention to it.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback. I don't like hotspot revealers, but I guess it's an expected feature nowadays.

I actually liked not having a hotspot revealer. It was just like the classics, it made it more immersive because you really had to pay attention and soak up the environment. Although..this one was a pain in the @.
The game kept me busy when I was not playing, 'how am I gonna solve this problem when i get home'.
Enjoyed it very much, you're very talented.

This brings a tear to my eye. That's what I was aiming for, the good old feeling of being stuck and having to "play" the game even away from the computer.

Thanks a lot for the kind words!
