Were you suspicious after the saw went to Josh despite picking to save him?

I reloaded multiple times thinking I messed up and wondering why he couldn't be saved there. I was suspicious but thought 'there's no faking getting sawed in half with your guts hanging out' so just accepted he dies there no matter what. Then they showed how he faked it...

I think the game thinks that you'll assume you accidentally pulled the lever the wrong way because the photo's and lever don't make it obvious if you're suppose to pull the lever towards who you want to die or who you want to save.
