To say it simply, the game runs SDR in a HDR container. Peak brightness is capped at 250 nits and black level floor is very high with tons of color banding, just like in SDR.

Let me tell you, it's ugly and absolutely bad looking. RTX HDR can help you but the raised blacks are an instant turn off. Do not get this game on PC if HDR is important to you. And I don't think the devs care.
So you just disable HDR in the game menu and turn on RTX HDR?
Yes.
Incorrect. It's just running SDR in a HDR container. Please don't spread misinformation. Devs need to fix HDR ASAP.
HDR does not work in this game mate. Are you sure you're not using Vivid mode on that LG lol.
Jokes aside, In all seriousness, I've got 3x OLD Tvs and an alienware AW3225QF and I can tell you now HDR does not work in this game, it still is within an SDR container.
Devs need to fix this and also why did they remove a graphic setting?
Just curious not baiting, how can you tell HDR being enabled? I'm definitely a digital foundry like fidelity enthusiast but HDR I know little about to tell if it's working or not which is why I'm asking. Thanks
For Windows, I always enable HDR in Windows Settings before I launch an HDR game. Then all HDR games will have HDR settings under their Display/video settings. You should always be able to pick the minimum and maximum peaks.
This game does indeed let you pick those but the game itself is very grey with no highlights, no HDR BT2020 colour either. If you use alot of HDR content you will notice straight away that the blacks are off, it's dull and doesn't look right. I Also saw a very slight bit of colour banding too on the main menu due to this. There's been other games that have done this over years, running HDR in SDR container. The devs should be able to patch this one fairly quickly. The best use of HDR in a game that I have seen is BG3.
I also flicked between SDR and HDR and launching the game multiple different ways and yes it's definitely not functioning correctly.
I'm also an OLED HDR fanatic. LG C1 65 inch and C4 42 inch in HGiG mode both result in HDR not correctly working on my end.
Interestingly, the HDR slider in the settings actually works as intended and clips at both my TVs intended clipping points of 80 (800nits) on my C1 and 73 (730nits) on my 42 inch C4, which are both correct to the panel specs, but the actual game doesn't reflect either the brightness, nor the black point sliders.
I've never seen this behaviour in a game before, where the HDR calibration slider works in the menu, but doesn't reflect it in-game. Odd.
It's not the common issue of a game running SDR in a HDR container, because if that was true, the menu calibration wouldn't be accurate, but it definitely is accurate. The game's settings just aren't saving calibration changes in-game. It's a configuration issue.
Nah, it's busted, as above. HDR works in menu, but not in-game. I know some devs do set a stupidly high black point you can't change, but that's not happening here. The menu allows an infinite black point, and correct peak brightness, but the game isn't using the settings you set.
