How is performance?

Can report, runs like absolute dog poop.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3343183072

Constant stutter during transitions and any loading of dialog and/or interactions.
Then hit a glitch/bug/leak/whatever it may have been which caused the game to lock below 60fps (50% gpu utilization) and introduced perma stutter. Tried to back out to main menu, game locked up, had to use steam to force stop, got a prompt to fill out crash report, told sony they suck.

Refunded.

And another one.

Great time for games rn.

I've been trying to tell him that. If capping frames eliminated stutter, then pc gaming would be saved. As it stands however, there is no magic bullet to kill this pandemic of lazy incompetent ports to pcs.

This runs worse then Frank Stone. I at least was able to get through the game and enjoy. This on the other hand is a complete mess. Sony is incompetent anymore with ports.

The RTAO ?

Yes, that is the only option that resets each time.
Though I did notice something weird, the GameUSerSettings file is completely empty always so not sure if they maybe messed something up with that.

Gonna try enter the settings myself manually in the file and see what happens

Running at 4k full detail everything maxed and runs ultra smooth on AMD 12 core w/32gb system ram and a Geforce 3070.
Win 11/ lastest patches as well as latest drivers for Vcard.
For me its just unplayble it uses 2 cores out of 8 on the i7 9700f at 100%, while others 6 cores 4-5%, because of this, any changes in the graphics settings help doesn't help, the best I could achieve was an unstable 25-45 fps with frame generation enabled and the lowest settings with rescaling, it's unplayable
processor i7 9700f
graphics card rtx 4060 ti
32 GB of RAM
the game is installed on an ssd m2
Res 1920x1080

None of the components are loaded even at half strength, and the best the game can offer is this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ performance.

My system should be more than enough to handle this game on high to ultra yet I'm lucky if I attain even 40 FPS. Most of the time I average around 26 to 35 FPS and that is after a GPU update.

My System:

Motherboard – ASUS AM4 TUF Gaming X570-Plus
CPU – AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-core, 24-Thread Unlocked @ 3.7 (4.8 GHz)
CPU Cooler - Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black, 140mm dual-tower CPU cooler (Black)
GPU – SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU 16GB GDDR6
RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 @ 3600 MHz
PSU - Seasonic FOCUS GX-750 750W 80+ Gold Full-Modular PSU

Storage

1x Crucial P3 1TB Internal SSD (PCIe Gen 3.0 NVMe)
1x Crucial P3 Plus 4TB Internal SSD (PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe)
1x Crucial MX500 4TB Internal SSD
2x WD_BLACK 6TB Internal HDD @ 7200 RPM

In case it matters, my monitors are a trio of Acer Nitro XZ2 (XZ272U) 27” Class WQHD curved gaming monitors.

La 5090 ne changera rien. Si le jeu est mal optimisé ce sera la même chose, peu importe le matériel.

Have you checked how many core threads and threads the game uses? For some reason, only 2 work for the game
i change settings a lot from min to ultra and fps almost doesn't change and in the same area as your

Okay, I've done a few more tests and the problem is the Dualsense controller support (via USB). If the Dualsense is connected via Bluetooth, then all transitions are OK. But then you no longer have haptic feedback and the speaker is no longer recognized. If I connect the Dualsense to the PC via USB and add an audio source with a Dualsense speaker to OBS Studio, all haptic feedback (vibration) comes through as audio.

So PC and full Dualsense support no, it's the same with other games.

I haven't been able to test the update yet.
I want to ask: does the game supports adaptive triggers over Bluetooth?

Ever considered that the game runs (mostly) as it should be? Blame Microsoft and disable "Game Mode"

Hello everyone!

First of all, i would like to tell you that i am a big fan of Until Dawn on original PS4 hardware. Then, when PS4Pro arrived, i was upset not making Until Dawn any better than i was (in terms of performance). I had little hope (coincidence?) when trying the title on the PS5, but was surprised how smooth the game looked and i started a playthrough once again... and was happy.

After i heard that Until Dawn will be released on Steam, i was really excited and pre-ordered the game. Just to be disappointed on release date by serious flaws. I did not play through the whole game right now, mostly because the game was buggy as hell in my opinion. Mike has white hair in a prologue scene? Virtual Shadows do lead in black triangles on Hannahs mirrored picture? Framedrops here & there with no identifiable reason?

Well, at least the last thing has a cure -> DISABLE Windows "Game Mode"! It will not stop the frametime issue completely, but will minimize it.

The frametime problem is an issue that surely need to be addressed by Ballistic Moon, but i would like to defense them as the game was never meant to be played on such a high frame rate. Ever complaint about "The Hobbit" played on 48FPS? If yes, so why do you expect 240Hz here then?

Let us all settle down, play the game in lower FPS (played it on 24FPS and it was just as spooky as any horror movie is) and wait for the final bananaware we have paid for.

My questions to Ballistic Moon is:

- What is wrong with your scheduler? The lower the HW-Specs is, the more consistent framerate is granted (Tested desktop R9 5950X+32GB+4090, then mobile i9 13000 series with 4070 8GB mobile GPU (but better frametime) and GPD Win Max 2 (16GB Radeom 769M), both latter sucks when it comes to framerates, but is "jitter-free" in game.

-Why is DX11 not populated in Steam? It can also have improved performance for those that would sacrifice quality over quantity.

Can we have a "movie mode" like The Quarry please?

I have not. I did try changing graphics settings from Ultra to High and not much changed.

Aside from the framerate issue I was having I noticed despite my hardware being more than enough for the game, the game still looked awful in certain areas. I noticed one particular issue where the game would look particularly blurry in cutscenes. The lighting would also look odd and the image almost looked like it was being smeared. I’m not so sure it’s just Microsoft’s “Game Mode”. I have a feeling that Until Dawn has been terribly optimized, something that Sonys has been quite adept at on PC.

So your telling me I need to play console level of frame rate to enjoy this game that I was told had unlocked fps and all these extra features for pc? How does that make any sense? This is really just a bad port. Plain and simple.

To everyone you can fix the stutter and froze game simply by switching to borderless from full screen!!!! Apperatly fullscreening game cause the issue with freezes and stutters especially when you move the mouse ! Its a extreme bug !!! But when i switched to borderless i just saved my game from a nice and fast refund !!! At first i reset the settings and i noticed the fullscreen is the issue! So go now and swich to borderless from that crao fullscreen and the game fps and performance will go back to normal! I went from a literary unplayable frozed game every time i moved the mouse to a enjoyable game with great performance ( not so great but good :)) the game is heavy anyway and requires a strong pc) you will think me for this...idk why others didn't done this...i m the first one who found a fix to this damn stutter freeze issue?
Hugo ⚡ Feb 19 @ 2:24pm
Swich to borderless and the issue is gone
Hugo ⚡ Feb 19 @ 2:28pm
After switching to borderless from full screen you can restart the game if you want but anything will be in an instant anyway. Now enjoy the game and dont refund it until you didnt done this. You can thank me later 😅
