Censorship for the Japanese version
Being that I live in Japan, and know that Sony tend to put out regional versions of their games on Steam (Days Gone for example has a censored Japanese version on here) I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of how the censorship is on this version of Until Dawn? The original PS4 version back in the day was infamous for some fairly heavy handed and poorly done edits. Just wanted to see if this remaster is the same before I take the plunge.

You cant try the game for two hours and if you dont like it then just refund it.
The original Until Dawn employed blacking out the screen during grotesque scenes. This made the last act of the game near impossible to play, and made understanding the story even harder. This version, employs more typical censorship (i.e., close up camera angles, or altered view so that certain details are not shown), and the story is far easier to follow but still suffers from one point of overly aggressive censorship that ruins a major reveal*.

* The reveal in the mines where you see the cages, in the uncut version these cages will be filled with the heads of whoever was killed by the Wendigo, but for the Japanese version, the cages are always empty. It's a shame, as this could have been done differently by having the whole bodies in the cages instead (which would have been acceptable under CERO standards)

Final judgement: The Japanese cut of this release is infinitely better than the 2015 release. But if you want the full experience, you should still hunt down the US version. On PC, that's going to be difficult as you won't be able to activate non-Japanese versions on Steam accounts where the store region is Japan. You're better off getting the game on PS5 if you can, as it's easier to buy and play the US version in Japan.
