Sony doesn't care, they just want to impose their new policy: PC ports at the same price of their overpriced console games, mandatory PS account (at least officially, in this case there's a weird "backdoor" to bypass that) and some say it's also their objective to "encourage" PC players to buy their console and play their games there (i find this absurd but i have seen it commented too many times already so many ppl seems to think this is another objective)
That the game was not even promoted here on Steam when it released, completely ignored by Sony's powerful marketing depts (no promotion at Steam's main page, and no announcement thread even on release, only after it) so it become a sneaky, silent released only noticed by those who followed/wishlisted the game or pre-ordered it means that Sony thought this was not going to sell well and ignore it or that they only think about their new policy on PC and don't even care about the product itself (which can mean they are changing also what games are going to be released on PC from now on, for instance reducing the amount of game to the minimum and most sold/famous games on PS)
In any case, 70 eur is just obscene no matter if it's a remaster or even a new game.
20% off max? I don't think much more than that, it's too soon even if it would be logical to do a bigger discount. It's all out of proportion these days for big publishers. Look at MS flight simulator....what an obscene overpriced disaster.
Fortunately we still have indie doing very well, releasing honest and good games at decent prices and, in a proportional comparison, they do much better than some "AAA" games (or "AAAA" lol)
I actually looked it up. I bought the game in the UK (living in DE) back in 2015 for 40GBP for the Deluxe edition early September (which included additional scenes), 3 months after release.
I agree that 70EUR is too much, and I would have paid 40EUR or even 50EUR easily on day one, but 70EUR is way over.
And to think that the game is 74USD in the EU and it is only 60USD in the US, where the average annual salary is higher (in the USA) than in most EU countries (and similar to a few countries like Switzerland and Norway).
I can only hope there will be a sale, and I'll pick it up if the price is right, but otherwise this won't be the sales hit SONY would have liked.
I have many other games in my backlog and currently playing through The Quarry, at the time I have somewhat more time to play.
For me this is 70 eur while TLOU2 is 50... That pricing is so so awful.
Anyway, maybe Sony is making an experiment to encourage PC players to open an account at PSN trying this time with a much decent price for the new game. Who knows.
