Why is PSN account forced?

I lost access to my account as I dont have a playstation anymore. Let me play the damn game. A PSN account has never been forced on other Sony titles I have purchased through steam.

Cant even contact support for help, they are closed on weekends and I work during their operating hours... Refund time I guess :/

Edit: Found a mod on Nexus to allow me to skip it. I shouldn't need it but whatever, it makes the game work at least.

It's not forced and you don't even need a mod. Just launch the Bates-Win64-Shipping.exe in your game folder \Windows\Bates\Binaries\Win64 instead

That didn't work for me, only the mod works.

You don't need a playstation to make a psn account. I never had a ps, and I made an account just for this game. Also you can very easily bypass the account requirement if you don't want to make onme

I know I have one, but the 2FA is linked to my old phone and number which I no longer have so I cannot gain access to it, at least not until next week when I can contact a support agent.
