Only I'm able to play in a Multiplayer Game

I'm completely new to how this works, I was trying to set up a game with 2 of my friends and every time we would start a match It would only let me play, I would finish my turn and it would go back to me being able to play another and then another. We had 3 teams and they were all different colors set, But it would only let me play and on each team each turn, am I missing something?
