How to play Worms Armageddon online?

Can someone explain to me how to play online with a friend? Do I have to look my IP up and send it to my friend?

join WormNET, then a channel of your wish, create a game and let the friend join it.

You can play direct IP games too if you wish, but I would personally recommend just using one of the WormNet channels to meet up and arrange the game, then if you wish to be left alone, one of you can host a passworded game and the other one joins it. Some network configuration may be necessary, like making sure that port 17011 TCP is forwarded to a static internal IP address in the router of the hosting player.

Direct IP connection is very good if you're not behind a router (or have configured the ports) and want to play a private match with your friend(s). Just host a new game and send them your IP address (the old school stuff to play multiplayer online games). :)

Yeah and you don't even need to find your IP out manually, you can just input the /url or /u command in the chat of the lobby after you host the game and you'll be able to give your friends a wa:// protocol link through which they can join your game.

This still needs some testing with the Steam version of the game, though, so report back if something turns out not to work and we'll find a solution.
