What to install for best setup?
Hi, I've been gaming since the 80s but only casually messed with worms. I've just bought a load of worms games and want to setup w:a. My plan was to have 2 installs, one with the downgrade for projectx and the other being the latest version from steam with wormkitds installed. Is this possible and is this a good idea or not?

I am hoping to achieve this by downloading the steam version, moving it to a new directory, install workkitds and then projectx install via the downgrade.

Next I'd get steam to redownload the latest version and then install wormkitds.

I'm computer literate but not worms literate so any help or advice would be welcomed :)

I plan to play single player campaign/leagues, multiplayer with my kids and maybe some online play too.

Hey.

First of all, yeah, having two versions of the game installed at the same time is very much doable. But your described method of going about it may not be ideal. Or work at all, I'm not sure right now.

A tried and tested one, instead, is to install the game normally via Steam and keep that installation (likely in your \Steam\steamapps\common\Worms Armageddon folder) untouched, unmodified, and have it update automatically to whatever the latest version is. You won't be needing a separate WormKit module loader or WormKitDS for this installation as the functionality comes built into the game in the latest update; it's a setting enabled in advanced options.

Then, for the homemade "CD version" install of Worms Armageddon, get software such as ImgBurn or CloneCD and create a disc image (with the disc label set to "WA" before burning) from the entire contents of the Steam installation's folder. You then keep this image mounted with Virtual CloneDrive or similar software, install it somewhere else (typically the \Team17\Worms Armageddon\ folder), and I guess downgrade it to version 3.6.31.0 with that version's update installer before installing WormKit and putting any modules such as RubberWorm or ProjectX into its folder.

Guide on how to burn the disc image:

WormKit (non-latest versions of WA only) and various modules:

Hi, I've tried all methods described above (mine and yours) and all seem to work. The only thing I didn't do was install wormkit in the uptodate steam version because wk files can be imported already. The downgraded steam, and the "CD version" both work great. I have 3 concurrent installs.

Thank you.
