Error Opening Map File (Followed Guidelines)
I keep getting the Error Opening Map File message when I try to open the map, which I made in GIMP. I followed the guidelines listed here (http://worms2d.info/Colour_map) exactly, and have quadruple-checked that everything is as it should be.

The dimensions of the map are divisible by 8 (6384 x 3600), I generated an optimum color palette with a maximum of 64 colors, added dithering, and saved as a PNG with full compression and all other options unchecked. The color map has a pure black.

I have made another map previously, with identical dimensions and settings, which worked just fine.

Here's the map in question: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7699946/map.png

Any idea why this isn't working?

Think i found the reason, from the worms2d link:
Maximum number of colors should be set to 113 or below (see above for details on side effects of using certain colour ranges). It must also be a number above 16, otherwise GIMP will save your PNG as a 4-bit or 1-bit image, instead of an 8-bit image required by W:A.

Ah, right. It is, indeed, saved as a 1-bit image. Thanks!

How do I save a black-and-white map as an 8-bit image, then? Add arbitrary non-black solid colors? I set the number of colors to 64, and it still saved as a 1-bit image for some reason.

EDIT: Adding 16 different colors let it save as an 8-bit file. Working now! Thanks again!

I personally use Irfanview (freeware) to save maps for WA. It's lightweight and simple to use and has a great "reduce color depth" feature. For your map it would do as you said and just add arbitrary non-black colors to the palette (not to the map itself).
Awesome! I'm downloading it presently. I'm new to Worms, and therefore also new to making maps for Worms. I anticipate some good adventures in map-making in the future!
