WWP was the cashgrab game
You didn't even answer his question presumably because you were getting defensive over armageddon. He wants to know the list of differences between 2 and armageddon.
- one more column of weapons
- 5 utilities (above F1)
- a way better frontend (and there's a mod to fullscreen the frontend)
- way more themes (the community managed to make custom themes too)
- teams now have flags, graves, and fanfares (and supports custom ones)
- graves that aren't team colored, but the team picks one
- color maps that can be any size that isn't default-sized
- more default map presets
- backflipping
the scheme editor relatively is a mixed bag. you cant make weapons to be utterly ridiculous, but since 3.8, there are a lot of other things you can mess with
there's probably more, but that's the stuff i remember. check out campaign speedruns from both games (yes, W2 has a campaign) to see for yourself
This is a way better answer than what I could find searching the web. I haven't personally played Worms 2, but I still have the original Worms Armageddon CD somewhere.
Did Worms 2 have support for maps that are actual paintings like Worms Armageddon has, or was this also a new feature of Worms Armageddon?
Colour maps are a new thing https://worms2d.info/Colour_map
In other words, Worms Armageddon made Worms 2 obsolete, as Worms Armageddon in many ways was Worms 2 Game of the Year Edition and replaced that game (just like the game Unreal Tournament 2004 replaced Unreal Tournament 2003).
Again, thank you very much for the replies.
True for the most part. But there are a couple of features Worms 2 has that aren't in Armageddon. For instance, there's more customisation options on how powerful you want to make each weapon iirc, and I believe there's a built-in way of creating custom soundbanks? Could be wrong about that last one but it could be worth looking into.
There's probably a couple other things Worms 2 has going for it, but I think most will agree Armageddon is a huge improvement.
the soundbank creator is also in WA, but it's missing the Hurry sample (also Collect sample needs a collect SFX)
