if this was for PCs as well, the community would riot. you do not want the pro WA community riot.
Apart from that, there's...not much? I guess the new menus/museum and the 8 bit game. But that's not something very...important imo? Like I wouldn't buy a whole separate version just for those two things. The game looks basically the same apart from the cross from the health crate turning from red to green. Maybe it'll have new online features but I doubt it.
They actually want to release it with "PS-only multiplayer", "Switch-only multiplayer", and "XBOX-only multiplayer".
Why would I buy this? As a "consumer", this product is effectively meaningless to me.
I wouldn't buy it just for those two things either, but I'm sure there'd be more behind the scenes (or so I hope). Support to new resolutions/aspect ratios and similar stuff would make me consider getting it, for instance.
• Optimized controller support for all consoles
• Achievements and Trophies
• New display features such as modern aspect ratios, custom screen filters, enhanced HD and graphics options
• Fully playable Game Boy Color version of Worms Armageddon
• An interactive museum that charts the history of the entire series, featuring never-before-seen interviews with developers of the original and current games.
• New save system
Once again, controller support is the most important thing here. Achievements and the museum are neat but nothing major. The third option already has that covered in 3.8. Game Boy Color version at least me I'll play it once and never again. And the new save system... ok? Does the one from now doesn't work or what?
Although it does list better online support, which is another thing Armageddon would DEFINITELY benefit from, since the current system is pretty arcaic. Easy Steam Invites would make this incredible.
Can't you just use Steam Input? I'm perfectly happy with the controller support on PC through that.
EDIT: About the Gameboy Color version: I'm not saying it's not worth checking out just for the sake of checking it out, but man is that an absurdly terrible version. The main issue is that the damage calculations are plain broken. You can hit a worm dead center with a bazooka and it deals 14 damage, and a shot that is way off-target can deal 50 damage for no reason. Even in an emulator and with save states it's impossible to make any rhyme or reason out of it. Which makes it feel unplayable.
And another thing that sucks is that for some strange reason, your custom scheme and more map choices can only be used in random games against the CPU or another player, but not with your custom teams. It just makes no sense
So yeah, GBC port is a bust, play once and never again basically
Weird, doesn't Steam Input get applied automatically to games that have no native controller support? I didn't know it was possible to miss.
Anyhow, World Party Remastered also had a cursor to select weapons with its controller support, and even the original console versions of Worms Armageddon used a cursor. It's a PC game through and through in that sense. So it's not actually that different as far as I know.
Personally I prefer to use F1-F12 hotkeys. For example, if you have an Xbox controller, you can create a config where when you hold down either the Select or Start button, Every button on your controller becomes an F key. So for example d'pad is F1-F4, face buttons is F5-F8 and shoulder buttons/triggers are F9-F12. That's a bit too complicated for unexperienced players for couch multiplayer, of course, but amazing in single-player or when playing online.
Long time I don't see excited with this saga after having played hundreds of hours on my childhood, I need to be hooked to the saga again 😢
And yes. World Party Remastered does have the same kind of cursor. But the sensibility is MUCH lower when you select the weapons, which makes it really comfortable to use. Actual controller support for Armageddon would adress that along with letting you control the menus by selecting each one like in World Party Rematered. instead of controlling the mouse.
I would like to point out that Steam Input is extremely versatile and you can do almost anything you want with it.
It seems that the default config creator has not thought about that, but I just created a config that allows me to select weapons using the d'pad. Check it out:

I did this by creating a layer that changes the d'pad function to moving the mouse cursor in a direction by 29 pixels, which allows it to stay in grid. The d'pad is normally for worm movement so this layer gets applied when you press the weapon select button (Circle or right face button in this case). It gets de-applied when you press Circle again (closing the inventory) or when pressing X (selecting a weapon, also closing the inventory). X is also changed to become Mouse1 only when the weapons panel is open, but when closing it or selecting a weapon it changes back to space (fire weapon)
