I would of said get Rev because they are continuing with the fluid rope, but now they are going back to WA rope for Worms WMD. If you just want to blow your friends up, get clan wars, it has the most ♥♥♥♥ to blow each other up
Team17 had a really passionate developer back in the day, Andy Davidson. He pretty much singlehandedly made Worms Director's Cut for the Amiga and then Worms 2. They were his babies, and both of them were feature packed and awesome. Worms 2 was then further refined and adapted, and became Armageddon. Davidson was obsessive and made sure every detail was perfect.
Andy left Team17 when WA was released, but equally obsessive and talented players from the community (Deadcode and later Cybershadow) took over and have been patching and adding features to the game for at least the past 15 years. The playerbase, meanwhile, stayed steady in number or grew all that time. That meant tons of maps, soundbanks, schemes, competitive leagues, and 3rd party mods (custom weapons, event scripting, physics and logic tweaks, and other crazy stuff) got developed over the years.
The unique circumstances and timeframes that have led to WA's current state and smorgasbord of content make it so that WA can't realistically be outdone by any new game.
