There are 2 methods you can use. The harder way is better because it gives you two simultaneous installations of WA (one for PX and one with the latest updates installed), but either way will work. The hard method is better because when you aren't using PX features it's best not to use the PX WA version, because it can cause random disconnections and minor graphical glitches in your game. The "easy" way will downgrade your Steam version of WA to the older version compatible with PX. It comes with an uninstallation that reverts back to the newest version, or you can always verify your game files in Steam to change it back.

Harder way *not fully tested*:
1. Create a CD image of your entire WA folder with MagicISO (or a program of your choice). Name it "WA". http://www.magiciso.com/
2. Mount that image in WinCDEMU or a program of your choice. http://wincdemu.sysprogs.org/
3. Copy the whole contents of the CD .. create a new folder called C:\Worms Armageddon PX .. and paste everything there.
4. Install https://worms2d.info/files/WA_update-3.6.31.0_Beta_Installer.exe on your new copy of WA. It will probably ask you to install some other patches or graphics packs during the install process. Allow it to install whatever it wants.
5. Install Wormkit http://worms.thecybershadow.net/wormkit/wormkit.zip by extracting it to your new WA directory.
6. Install ProjectX: http://px.worms2d.info/px080.rar (You need WinRAR or a similar program to open this file).
7. Install wkWndMode. Just extract it to your new WA folder. https://www50.zippyshare.com/v/S6eKt3J7/file.html Note: this necessary compatibility fix will make the game's menus appear in a 640x480 box in the top left of your screen - there is no way to make it fullscreen.
8. Install ddFixW8 http://files.steps.club/various/ddraw_fix_w8_up.zip by extracting it to your new WA folder.
9. Load the game via Wormkit.exe instead of WA.exe when you want to use Wormkit features. You might want to change your shortcuts, since WA.exe has none of the compatibility fixes and probably won't even work.

Easier way (Note: The installer on the following page will make your Antivirus falsely detect a virus due to the NOCD patch included in it):

Edit- fixed wndmode link

thank you for your reply but honestly its a load of crap. I think I will skip playing the mod because personally its not worth doing all of that just to play a mod.

Blame Entuser. He's the guy who made ProjectX, but disappeared and won't respond to any form of communication. PX can't be updated to use the newest version of WA without his help, so you have to do all that crap above. It's pretty worth it though honestly, all the custom weapons and stuff are really fun.

i am not very good with all this technical manipulation of files. I tried the easy step today and there was terrible screen tearing in the normal game. I couldn't install the mod at all. I love the game and I know the mod is kickass when it is actually working but man I just can't seem to follow all these instructions. It bored me. I reinstalled the game and discovered all my custom made teams are gone, have to start from zero again.
Obn3g0n Jun 5, 2018 @ 3:30pm
That sucks, sorry about that. Teams are stored in the file \User\Teams\WG.WGT. Any time you reinstall on Steam those will all get lost unless you make a backup. I usually just backup the whole User folder so it saves my replays, maps, schemes, etc.

Was there a particular part(s) you found confusing? If so I'll edit the instructions, since these threads are a good resource for anyone else in the future who wants to try PX.

Good thing you tried the "easy" way, because I accidentally left out the step where you install ProjectX the hard way.

For future reference to anyone reading this, screen tearing can usually be fixed by changing the V-Sync options in WA's advanced settings screen. If you have screen tearing in the newer version of WA you can also try changing your graphics renderer in the same settings page -- "Direct3D (Renderer)" is usually the best.

3. Find the installer in your new virtual WA CD inside the Install folder (not setup.exe). Install a 2nd copy of WA to a new folder on your hard drive, for example c:\Worms Armageddon. Do not install WA in Program Files or else you won't be able to save your custom worms teams.

4. People will get confused installing the patch. You need to mention that it will ask for 2 upgrades along that will be downloaded. And even after installing the first upgrade I had to force myself out of the installer to install it again.

5. The wormkit zip that you provided doesn't have any .reg files, meaning no LoadWormKitModules_Enabled.reg tweak

This is also the weirdest wormkit version that I've ever seen. It gives me instructions through alert messages and no guide to folow so my WA folder is screwed and have to install it again

Thanks for the feedback Cinzel. Wrote those instructions late at night so they're a bit rushed. I did say "Allow it to install any extra patches or graphics packs it asks you to install." but I've edited my post to make that more clear.

The .reg files appear in the Tweaks folder after you install the 3.6.31.0 Beta update linked in Step 4. They don't come with Wormkit. Too much info clarification: .Reg files were an extension of the new Advanced Settings screen that got added in the 3.6.31.0 update for people who couldn't get into the menus for whatever reason. Anything you can change in the Advanced Settings screen can also be changed with loading the corresponding .reg files.

You probably don't have to install anything again. What do the alert messages say?

I installed the beta update and the tweaks weren't there. Might have to try that again before anwering.

I made a small mistake - the Tweaks folder isn't in User, it's right in the base WA directory.

I am thankful to all the comments on this threads but could someone just make a youtube video showing how to mod the steam version of the game, step by step. I guess that should help me mod the game easily.

Finding the tweaks folder wasn't the problem. I was more confused about the wormkit zip and the folders inside it. Since reg file wasn't there in tweaks folder (because 3.6 wasnt installed correctly). Wormkit was giving me messages.

Tried install the patch again and now the problem is the patch is atracted to the Worms Armageddon in the steam folder and gives a error when i guide it to the proper folder.

Edit: Finaly made the patch install in the right place but again it doesn't have the tweaks necessary to activate wormkit

Very sorry my friend. I made another mistake in my instructions. I forgot that this is the old style of Wormkit which isn't integrated into WA.exe. You are quite right that there is no Tweaks folder - that feature was not added yet in this version. My folder is a mashup of old and new files because I must have used that "easy mode" installer, which didn't get rid of the modern files such as those Tweaks. Thanks for your persistence..

The solution: Load the game via Wormkit.exe instead of WA.exe when you want to use Wormkit features.

Has anyone followed the hard tutorial and succeeded? I'm hesitant in installing additional software, as I don't see how it can work, specifically:

This is what I see in my WA installation folder (when I click on the game title in Steam, choose properties, "local files" tab, "browse local files" button)
https://i.imgur.com/1VdNe1v.png

no other executable file than the WA game, no setup.exe file, no folder named "install" or "setup" are present.

The author admitted he didn't follow his own tutorial, and may have mixed some things up by also trying the easy version.
