I’ll be honest with you—this has been a very tough time for us. We spent 7 years making this game, and after the launch, it feels like no one really cared.
I believe that games are something horizontal, where devs and players coexist in a shared world, bringing their own expressions and creating new ones together. So, after a launch that has been quite rough so far, you can imagine how difficult it’s been.
But reading your post truly made us happy and uplifted our spirits. Thank you so much for taking the time to write it.
About the performance issues, you’re likely experiencing drops when the game tries to load new levels. It’s not your GPU causing the performance drop—it’s the CPU. Later in the game, performance improves in that regard. However, it’s been very challenging for us to maintain high FPS in all areas. The engine hasn’t been helping much either (hahaha). Usually the dynamic clouds it´s the heavier one. But please let us know if you’re experiencing issues in a specific location so we can take a closer look.
I’ll also ask the team to check if they can fix the axis controls on the telescope and in photo mode.
And for the photo mode on pc version you need to use the steam photo feature or take a screenshot.
Once again, thank you so much Martha!
When I play a new game, the one thing I truly, truly love is realising after a few hours is that I have gotten lost in its world. I look at the clock and a few hours have passed and I have only just begun to scratch the surface, and your game has done this for me. I'm so sorry you guys feel that no-one really cared about the launch. They do. Also, the amount of updates you have given to the game since release is astounding to be honest. Along with the communication with the comments here and on other media makes me feel like you are SUPER passionate about players input.
I honestly can't imagine what it's like to spend 7 years on a project and to release it, only for a bunch of people on Steam forums (incredibly toxic BTW) to say "crappy game, not worth it!" after spending 10 minutes playing it (and seeing their profile of having 3400 hours of playing Counterstrike and nothing else...).
You have created something special and something touching. I've got to meet Sence, and a giant took over the landscape in a cutscene. There's something supernatural going on and I cant wait to explore it. I've just started to explore the village... damn right I'm staying in the hotel for free!! ;)
Thank you SO much for making this experience. I'm loving trapsing around the wilderness, I'm loving taking pictures of the landscape. It's games like this that I show to my Mum and Dad and they end up saying "Keep going! I want to see more, this is really cool!"... I say this, and I'm 44 years old!! I showed them this afternoon after explaining that Isla was trying to look for her sibling, that she was concerned about him going missing, and that she needed to look for him. They were like "This is literally better than films that we watch!" They want me to keep exploring the village and keep the story going!
Thank you <3 I'm so sorry for the long post :(
EDIT: Feel free to delete this post, it was a bit of a long one, I'll admit!
Most of our team is around the same age as you, between 35 and 45. I believe this game doesn’t resonate as much with younger audiences, which makes sense since it’s not what they typically expect. Most of our game design influences come from older games, so it naturally appeals to a specific audience.
I completely agree with you about Steam; it does have a rather toxic side where people seem to want to argue over everything. When players get upset with our game, I do my best to handle it calmly and avoid engaging in negativity—it’s just not worth getting worked up over.
It’s adorable that you showed the game to your parents and that they were interested in it!
I’m really enjoying hearing about your journey and experience with the game. If you encounter any issues or have suggestions for improvements, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Thank you again!
Thanks Thiago, I'll let you guys know if anything pops up, take it easy <3
We already implemented that. This feature will be on the next update.
