I hope the devs are smart enough to ignore you and your ilk as you inevitably flood the discussions with your "I was going to buy but..no multiplayer" nonsense.
Again, it's the dev who has to decide about this, future will tell if there will be something like that or not.
It's not about being "a smart dev", it's more about what the dev want to make. If he absolutely doesn't want Multiplayer in his game he doesn't have to implement it in the game. end of the story. He's not being held hostage because of 20~30 threads (of who knows how much there will be in the future) in the steam discussions. As if the dev checks every thread made here and gets a personal meltdown about something like that.
Btw, i can already hear people saying:" But it does have impact on the dev if there are enough ~whiners~!"
And that's still part of the "market research". You learn what your audience might want and might get you more profit in the end, you (as dev) start to think if you want to implement this if it fits your game. And that's still a choice the dev only makes.
Ah wait now i hear people say:"Yeah that's why devs ruin their games with crap like this!"
Yes and no, Devs did still add this out of their own will to their game because of the above said reason. If something like that really "ruined" a game (which depends on the personal viewpoint of a person/consumer") then the dev just made a poor choice since he did bite off more then he could chew. Multiplayer isn't easy to add for sure. But i don't see these "whiners" at fault.
TLDR: Let the dev do what he wants to do, The game came out just recently. Give it some time and don't overreact just because some people ask a normal not "whining" questions or just post their own opinion, which is their right after all. You don't have to like it and can voice your but you don't have to be an ass either. Be reasonable.
But out of curiosity, what games are you refering to?
Since you mentioned "enough EA games have been ruined because of multiplayer" i'd like to know some of them. And no i'm not being sarcastic.
It's true some games had some problems and bugs after implementing Co-op but that's to be expected especially with EA games, it would be delusional if someone expects to get a bugfree new implemented feature. Also if you don't have a lazy dev and he keeps working on it it can get quite solid and still be the best game for singleplayer. Just my opinion though.
Well, I will like the game if it stays singleplayer as well as when it gets multiplayer.
Doesn't matter for me.
If that's a novel for you, then well... Why even take part in a "discussion" in the first place if you can't even be bothered? But at least the TLDR was of use, so your welcome, i guess.
Even though i thought it was clear enough to understand, the "normal question" part was refering to a few other threads made which had the title:
"Do you have any plan for Multiplayer?"
or :
"Multiplayer?"
In which the normal question was asked nice and politely.
I included that part because i spotted the user Duroath, who gave his comment in here too, being kinda rude to one guy. You can read his comment for yourself if you want.
For this thread here was the part with the opinion, obiously if i may add.
If he hoped for multiplayer and was disappointed about it missing, then who are we to look down on him. Sure it's not great to read something like that but if he felt the need to share this with the dev, then why not?
- he wasn't insulting,
- he stated what his problem was...
you on the other hand:
- looked down on him with calling him a "whiner"
- made assumptions about ruined games without any base to it just to strengthen your senseless bashing
- called out your hope that a feature someone wished for will never come true
so who do you think i see antagonist here?
So you say, don't pick it up then? I think he found that out all by himself without anyone telling him that, but okay. Or is he not allowed to say the thing that you don't wanna hear?
And your support makes you so important to go arround like a little brat and calling others "whiners" just because they are dissapointed multiplayer is not a thing. Then throwing around baseless assumptions about said "whiners" who have ruined enough EA games. you have some nerves...
With my "Novel" i gave you a base for a discussion, hence the forum you're in, even asked for examples and you can't give me one as it seems. So either you can face the music you started and have a civil discussion or maybe next time think before writing such BS about whiners. Maybe stop throwing around with something like that as if they are steamsale coupons.
But yes, thank you. I wish you happy holidays too.
Maybe next time you should assume that nobody gives a crap about reading your novellas and nobody thinks you're as important as you apparently do. I sure as hell don't. "Either face the music blah, blah, blah" as if anybody owes you a response or a discussion. God, you're pretentious. You're also obnoxiously boring and I don't have time to waste on people who want to give me their whole life's story, or whatever nonsense you're writing, so I'm blocking you to save myself future headaches so you never have to expect me to read that tripe again. Have a nice life.
I think the Steam forums may have done something to you, homie. I'm not trying to whine. I can see what you mean from a few posts down the breakdown of my post. I'm not here to rag on the game.
I'm just saying it would have been a good pick up if it had multiplayer.. like for friends and I all roaming around. I'll most likely still pick it up once some more patches have hit the game. If the dev keeps it SP it is what it is.
How I kind of go about things is from the perspective of, if the dev doesn't see people asking for multiplayer. They will never know people are interested in it, ya know?
Optional response to your last comment: It's a little odd with the rush to assume the game would launch in a worse state due to multiplayer. That would be on the dev/publisher's timing for the release of the game. Let the game get fully fleshed out and polished in SP, and potentially add MP in later. Doesn't have to be all immediate.
Stay positive.
Think what you want. I've spent enough time with a little troll like you, more than it was worth. Otherwise i can't explain your answers. Instead of writing something useful you're just writing "novels" about me yourself. My god you're an embarrassing and fragile person. By the way, don't worry about what i have to "assume" or not. This is not yours to decide. You seem to have enough trouble already with thinking "normaly" like taking part in a civil talk from one person to another so don't stress yourself to much thinking for me.
Have fun trolling then. A grown man...suuure...
I'm sharing a secret with you, which you probably won't see now anyways:
Staying away from forums (even more so if they are about discussions) may help you in the future, especially if you are either:
- unable/unwilling to engage in such conversations without throwing a temper tantrum.
- or to lazy to read a few more sentences than you're used to. Which a "grown man" as you've called yourself should have no problem with.
The forums are, among other places, there to give feedback. Devs use them to get feedback, notice bugs and check for feature demand. Which may or may not influence their decisions in the future, regarding what a healthy direction for the game might be. That, obviously, includes whether or not they should consider adding coop into the mix. Whether enough people request it to be worthwhile, and how hard it is to implement into their current architecture, will shape their decision on whether or not it's worth the effort. If 1% of people want coop, they may safely ignore the topic, but if 90% of people wanted coop, they would be kinda dumb not to, unless there is a very good reason against it.
People asking for coop, or any other feature for that matter, are not forcing the devs to implement it. They are simply showing that there is demand for such things. Which helps the devs make educated decisions about what's best for the future of their game. Which is something every dev wants for their games, and which is thus something a fan should support. Im speaking as a fellow gamedev (not this game, obviously) here. What's *not* healthy for a games future are those anti-topic whiners who want to shut down any opinion that is not their own. Just saying.
