Fear & Hunger 2: Termina

An Even Darker Majora's Mask? Unsubtle subtitle...
I've played the first game. Had the impression for awhile this one was going to be pretty similar, but I've looked into it more, and seems the gameplay is more complex and rpg/story-orientated? And it's got tons of arguably the darkest Zelda game's influence & references? Plus Silent Hill obviously.

i havent played majoras mask recently just oot but i don't think theres many gameplay similarities

the game is based on 3 days like the og game, but you dont keep anything when you restart a playthrough, you just keep ypur own knowledge of enemies and how to do things quicker

course there's references with the title, huge moon, and a npc called the happy mask salesmen

as for comparing to the first fear hunger game there's alot more narrative, dialogue, and character, which can be pretty annoying since you will die alot like the first game and have to rewatch it (you can skip dialogue faster holding down escape key)

there's also way more companion options (every other playable character) and the ability to give them skills from the hexen, giving you way more options and control over party comps

There's zero similarities to Majora's Mask besides the creepy moon.

This is the part that stood out to me most,
F&H 2 Termina has 3 days of specific events that happen with specific characters,
depending on your own choice of where to go, what to do, etc.
That is like the core setup of Majora's Mask gameplay.

Also I swear I saw somethign that reminded me of that notebook for tracking NPCs.
But maybe it's more like a 'kill chart'.

it's pretty similar to that, in the majoras mask you can't help everyone and have to keep resetting, usually you're giving a item or heart piece that you keep even after you reset time

here it's none of that and it's mostly just for flavor, there also usually just one scene with no quest line (besides some weird ghost quest)

i dont think there's any journal in the game but the one in majoras mask was awesome, maybe he can bring it back as august's journal thats mentioned in an event between him and karin

Well then that sounds like Majora's Mask perma-death run lol.

The games it reminds me the most is SIlent Hill and Soul Sacrifice.

And of the Berserk manga.

Definitely Berserk influence too, though it's more obvious in the 1st game, with the similar 'dark ages' aesthetic.

the game is chalk full of references majoras mask being one of them but , also alice in wonderland(pocket cat), hellraiser(the priests), the terrifier (needles), resident evil 4 (the village and mob grinder), hannibal (daan). and the moon is also a heavy influence in bloodborne. the poe ghost is also a majoras mask reference.

Plus the fact there's exactly 3 days before the moon does something really bad.
Also there being a 'happy mask salesman' npc somewhere.
Also Pocketcat talking lots about (but not naming) Majora's Mask when you fight him.
