Glass shards is probably the most useful item in the early parts of the game. Throw it at your opponents eyes to avoid constant defeat.

Saw the heads off everyone you kill.

Only use pipebombs and most throwables against bosses and extremely tough enemies.

Get as many people in your party ASAP. The more people you have tagging along, the less painful constant fights will be.

Much appreciated, makes my Termina a little less terminal :P

Trial and error, don't be afraid to restart, and don't be afraid to run away either. If you really have to fight, try and target an enemies main weapon. Could save your life, limbs or both.

Also don't be discouraged if you always get bad luck and open an empty chest due to the coin toss. Almost all of them have items you'll find later on or can craft yourself.

Yeah I lost a pigskin gas-mask I got pretty early on. Question though, is there any way to save without advancing the time and, how important is the three day cycle?

using a "fear and hunger" skin bible on "perfection circle" gives you a free save without passing time (3 on easy mode)

theres around 6-8 bibles and 3 circles types

Besides resting and the already mentioned fear and hunger bible, there are also Books of enlightenment. You can get two from bookcases per playthrough (not guarenteed I usually just find one but I know you can get two). Further books must come from a special vendor that you'll meet in the city, or stolen from one particular enemy. I won't say who or where besides that the person in question is in the northwest part of town and may or may not be wearing a green robe.

Also, if you play easy, make sure you talk to Marina in the train before leaving. You'll get a free fear and hunger bible. All you need to find is a piece of chalk and you'll have up to 18 saves available (there's 6 perfection circles in the game).

Oh alright slick, sadly I've already used the circle to pray in but, I'll keep that in mind for future circles. Much appreciated

Are there any content differences to the easy mode besides being easier? This game is so much harder than the first F&H, I might need to downgrade to the easy difficulty T_T

off the top of my head
-easy mode has no bear traps?
-marina gives you a free fear and hunger bible and its respective circle gives 3 saves instead of 1
-enemies less health
-easy mode might not have the mob?
-extra hexen in the orphanage

if you're having trouble i suggest sticking with it, normal mode kinda is the hard mode since masochist is literally an EXTREME version. The game gets wayyyyy more easy when you get party members and when you know enemies strategy/weakness.

You could also do "death runs". I would save, then speed through the areas near me without collecting resources and trying to explore/fight as much as i could. Basically trying to learn as much as i can before i die

also some characters are harder than others, who are you using?

Been using Daan, but I see a lot of people recommending Marcoh for a first playthrough

Daan is a good choice. He can come with one of the gods at max affinity AND a heal spell right off the bat.

Daan, Marcoh, and Olivia (hilariously enough, she's stupidly lethal) are probably the 3 best starter picks as all 3 characters are normally day 2 recruits and have powerful skills.

That's not to say the other characters are bad (well, except Karin and Levi maybe). Getting an early 3+ party just makes the game a hell of a lot easier.

I don't know if I'd recommend Olivia as a starter as her wheelchair mechanic is pretty annoying and strictly works against her, plus getting the most out of her requires knowing how the game works which a new player wouldn't. Marina is kind of an "Expert" character who's in the same boat, but in contrast she has a backstory that I can safely say has no bad choices since she gets something good out of every option. (The worst I can say you'd do is pick Alll-Mer as your God but again a new player wouldn't know how or why what Gods are good and bad to pick so it's a non-issue regardless)

Am I missing something about sawing heads? I'm playing as Daan the doctor so I can just mulch enemies when their downed.

Need a bonesaw to do that, if you have one you may need to scroll down the option list when interacting with bodies since I think it's near the bottom.
