In battle, or in the field?

In battle, you can attack them and destroy them. Additionally if you guard, your character will leap over them at the end of the turn and remove them from the battle that way. Villagers always place bear traps with their left arm, so if you remove the left arm, they can't place them anymore.

In the field, you just have to be paying attention and walk around them. I'd advise against running in areas where they are present. There are no bear traps to deal with once you leave Old Town, but West Prehevil does have instant death land mines to worry about. In the event you lose your legs, you CAN get them back. You need the Skin Bible for Sylvian and a piece of chalk, and you need to draw Sylvian's Sigil on an Asymmetrical circle. This will fully restore you, refilling Health and mind and restoring lost limbs. There are 4 Asymmetrical circles in the game, one in the destroyed shack west of the train leading to the Woodsman's house, one in the Woodsman's basement, one on the second floor of the mayor's house, and one in the basement of the church.

I've accidentally ran over that stupid bear trap outside the house that Karen hangs around on day 1 more times than I'd like to admit :/

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ you can ATTACK them? That's such a game changer. It's always been so obnoxious that they sometimes just get a free bear trap and I have to reset the fight.

I would caution that for the most part, it's smarter to just have a character guard and get the Just Guard against it since you can potentially miss the bear trap, though it's unlikely if you have multiple characters strike it.

In a game with stakes this high, always go for guaranteed things over maybes and what-ifs.
