Enemy strategy discussion
Wanted to start a discussion on optimal strategies for killing specific enemies, largely due to my current run getting stopped in it's tracks due to excessive damage from neighbors in the hole zone, the best I've got is using pyro trick on the head and hoping for the best but it's not cutting it.
Hope there's a more reliable method.
For many enemies glass shards to the eyes are very reliable, Abellas wrench toss can prevent an attack from a high priority limb, I do wish the effect of blindness would be immediate, as other status effects take effect on hit.

Assuming you are playing with 2 characters only (abella and your Main character)
Mischief of rats counters most of these enemies, so im not including it.

-The woodsman cant be deal with safely if you dont have a decent weapon or are playing as addicted levi, so just avoid him. After getting abella just take down his axe arm, then his ♥♥♥♥ and lastly just kill him.
-Sickle villagers go down with 2 body hits, if you are levi with addiction you need to use wrench toss.
-Knife villager you do the same, if not wanting to take risks you take down both her arms and then kill her.
-Pipe villager only gets to tackle once if you target his pipe hand, then his body 2 turns.
-Rifle villager take down his arms first turn, then just target torso.
-Moonscorched 2 torso hits, 0 risks.
-Bobby you target 2 arms, next turn target 1 arm and torso, next turn you target the 2 same arms, then you rev up x3 and hit torso, if he stops moving his head before turn 3 you can kill him there, anyways you will end the combat with only one hit from his baton.
-SNeedles you glass him and hope for the rng to bless you, then just target his torso.
-Is really hard to beat the Preacher with the bell with only 2 characters, you can take your chances glassing him OR shot him one time with the rifle, then attack and use wrench toss on his body, this has always killed him first turn for me, just remember to equip your MC with a blunt weapon, otherwise he doesn't die.
-The fallen cherubins are best dealt with your pistol from the overworld or throwing a murky vial at them, otherwise they just outnumber you.
-Fecal dogs are also better dealt with your pistol, if they engage then focus one then the other.
-Father Hugo with 2 characters is hard but doable, just pop pep pills before combat in both your characters, if you have brown vials then use pep pills in one character before combat and brown vial once in combat on your main damage dealer. Equip fire resistant gear and rush the torso.
-The wooden venus plants are hard also hard with 2 characters, remember to have any slashing weapon on your MC, if its the armless one just rush torso, if its the one with 2 arms cut one, wrench toss the other (will most likely cut it too) and then rush torso.
-The decrepit priest are free, target torso first turn, attack and wrench toss second turn.
-The guy with the meat mallet is an enigma to me, you can try disarming him, targeting torso only, or chopping his ♥♥♥♥ off and then head next turn, i feel like all of these make you take the same ammount of damage. Only safe way to kill him is having 4 party members, using mischief of rats, or just shooting his arms outside of combat.
-Owl cultists are easy, attack and wrench toss their arms first turn, next turn finish their arms, then just target torso.
-Headless dogs are free with 2 characters, if you want to trivialize the fight even more talk to them and offer a piece of rotten meat for a free turn and rev point.
-Neighbors are hard to deal with, you should always have enough ammo to deal with all of the ones you find at the apartments, shot their arms with 2 rifle bullets, then target torso.
-Sergal is not that hard as long as you have any way to regen hp in fight, either with ring of wraiths or leechmonger, throw a lantern at each arm first turn and focus one of the arms, then the other.
-The flying heads can be killed with 1 hit and one wrench toss to the torso.
-The black phallic monsters are hard too, and will chunk a significant ammount of your health when fighting them with 2 party members, luckily for you they are weak to piercing and come right after beating an enemy that drops you the best piercing weapon in the game, Take his spear arm using attack and wrench toss, then equip wrench on abella and focus the other arm, use wrench toss again and the fight is pretty much over, his right hand can do around 40 damage, so be sure that both of your party members are above that number, just in case you get unlucky, i learned this the bad way.
-Bremen soldiers are hard as well, try to shot them with the rifle to make the fight easier, my advice is to use your.
-Death masks: Run, or use mischief of rats, if you are fast enough 2 shotgun shots should be enough
-Crimson Fathers: Good luck, or use mischief of rats.
-Mob: Wait for more party members and then focus the meat grinder guy, or use a lot of mischief of rats.

TL;DR
Preachers, neighbors, and meat mallet villagers should be weakened with the rifle before combat.
Cherubins and fecal dogs can be killed with one 9mm bullet.
Use your shotgun on brehemen soldiers and death masks.
Mischief of rats is good.
A lot of the damage you take on this fights can be avoided if you take 2 actions per turn.
2 characters is barely enough to beat the game, but 3 and 4 is greatly appreciated, so try to get as much help as you can, even if its just the goat or some ghouls.

I've got a full party, right now I'm just struggling to take out neighbors before taking a hit, since I'm very short on healing
Platty Gems Dec 26, 2022 @ 3:31pm
Best way to deal with Neighbors for me is 3 characters attacking their leg first turn, and then headshot in next turn, but you do need 3 characters (or deal around 600 damage to the leg another way).

Do mind that this strategy is risky if you have the goat, even if it's your 4th party member, since Neighbors can kill the goat in 2 hits.

You can also use rot to downgrade the Meat Grinder to Meat Mallet.

Any strategies for Stitches and Centaur?
Cullen Feb 1, 2023 @ 4:25pm
Stitches, at least on normal mode, only has like 700 torso HP so a full party can just blitz her at that point. The living flesh is mostly a non threat too so it doesn't require any special handling.

For the Centaur, I would honestly recommend a solo character against it since the damage stampede does is really random and can easily take out even guarding characters if everyone doesn't have the best gear. After that, it's a pretty simple affair of just hyucking a murky vile at him and letting DOT do the rest, healing on extra turns.
four_channel Feb 1, 2023 @ 4:33pm
For stiches - wrench toss helps a lot. Just run from the centaur. It's not hard to avoid it if you stick to the outskirts and bee line west for the tunnel entrance. I only fought it once. Destroy one leg and then aim for the torso worked. As usual, enemies are easier with more party members.

Death mask: 1 Rifle bullet: stun the other remaining arm, either bleed/burn/poison the torso or rush down the arm while keeping it stunned, throw glass at face for extra safety, or 2 Rifle bullets to completely trivialize him. Also 2 quick trenchgun shots instant kills it WITHOUT execution (idk if that even does anything)

Crimson father: 2 shotgun shots is the easiest way to deal with them. Otherwise, one hit to the dagger hand should take it out, then either 1 hit on the tentacles each, then head, OR take out the arm first, then torso.

Mob: This is doable with even just 1 or 2 party members. Pep pills if neccesary, guard on initial turn, throw glass at the meatgrinder, then the hammer guy. Then guard/heal as necessary and focus down the rifle guy first. Toss poison/bleed/burn on the meatgrinder guy and take out the hammer guy next. Honestly just save before you engage these guys and reload if you get unlucky. Probably best to only engage when you have at least 1-2 arm protection items. You can NOT rush down the meat grinder or hammer guy unless you're packing huge damage anyways.

All of this info assumes no hexen abilities learned. Obviously if you have any extra spells, especially the rat stun one, everything will be a lot easier.

Or if you have the bullets, 1 rifle shot in overworld dismembers either arm (mostly its left) so you can focus 2-3 blunt hits to the leg and line him up for headshot.

Well... I met Needles in the Tunnel 7 and end him with one murky vial. Also I looted him and take his head for shure. Hes really dead?
Vex Hasturr Feb 2, 2023 @ 4:52pm
Any warnings about Tunnel 6?
Cullen Feb 2, 2023 @ 5:00pm
Needles is a one time foe, once he's dead he's dead.

The tunnels for the most part do not have enemies in them. 7 is the exception, with Needles being there if you go there before the Old City, and Abella's moonscorched form also resides there. There's also the Rher dimension for Tunnel 7 I guess but I don't really count that since it's optional.
