The looting can still be a real pain in the ass if you just get unlucky over and over, since random chests are still coin flips, however you can get some pretty insane items out of normal containers (Found one of the actual best armors in the game in a suitcase on the starting train before lmao) and the coin flip chests both in this one, also somewhat remedied by some of the strongest gear in the game having guaranteed locations either as a pickup or an enemy drop.
Reeeeeeeeee i want my alll-mer and FOH bibles but keep getting random newspapers and ♥♥♥♥
There is however a solution to saves
Pocketcat sells them for one, but they'll cost you 3 other contestant heads, however if you find a Skin Bible - God Of Fear & Hunger, if you draw it's sigil on the right circles, it produces a totem sort of thing, which lets you make a save without progressing time.
And as said above, the coin tosses aren't nearly as bad this time. You often just take big damage, no straight up game over.
Also accuracy has been reworked so that you practically never ever miss attacks on limbs except for the head. Random misses on arm shots in F&H1 were my biggest alt F4 moments.
