I agree it isn't quite as fluid as the original, but Dementium in the first place was meant to be a fun little horror game (that isn't scary) it wasn't meant at all to be groundbreaking. It wastes a ton of time and despite it's short length (if you know what you are doing) it can be beaten quickly and for me, has ton of replay value because of diffulculty. Not everything should be relied on critical reception. There are few exceptions as some Indie games on Steam are quite bad and some people there might be right in their opinion... but for the most part, games should be experienced and enjoyed not on critical reception but personal enjoyment.
For me, I personally adore Duke Nukem Forever, and Resident Evil 6, both games that are mixed and sometimes negative in reception. I wouldn't think to much about the overwhelming negativity that this game has on Steam and critic reaction. If you enjoy it, that's all that matters.
Not that this comment has any relevence now as it may be already too late!
But the remaster... oh dear. The PC version has only one battle theme, while the DS had 7 different themes. Your movement is slower, than crouching in AAA games. The combat feels horrible and some settings won't save (like the resolution). And what's so HD about it? The resolution? The textures look very bad for a PC game.
There's also a missing mode! I loved the survival mode in Dementium 2. Well, guess what? The PC port doesn't have this mode.
Get it for under 2 bucks. Otherwise... forget it or play the original one on DS.
