City Streets II help

I have shimmied down the pipe, opened the two doors and I am now on the ledge outside the office. I sonic the platforn (it already had the crate on when I first saw it) and when I try to move it down or left it only goes partway, the doctor says that wont work and it goes back to its original position. What am I doing wrong.
