first part of the dlc should come out this month, but im a bit worried. Let's just say it's been a little to quiet on the news front..
The "story" in Resistance is laughable, the lack of gameplay innovation is lamentable, the substantially smaller maps for many missions with lower enemy count than even in SE5 is just sad, the inclusion of the new Propaganda game mode is simply confusing, who ever asked for this - but the bugs this game should never have had are just infuriating. Did NO one in testing find that attachments do not always unlock, that stairs are buggy and that you can fall through the map?
To then port over maps from SE5 to Resistance feels like a slap in the face. I did not pay full price for this game just to play the same maps as in SE5, I may as well play SE5 then.
I completed the campaign on authentic after an initial playthrough on medium difficulty, but currently I am not in the mood to replay these missions again and again, I actually like most SE5 maps better. Be it Spy Academy, Secret Weapons, Liberation or Rubble and Ruins, Resistance has nothing like that, at all, bombed out St Nazaire was super atmospheric, Spy Academy is just tons of fun and offers a vast map, infiltrating the dome in Secret Weapons that almost always escalates to some all out firefight is so much better than infiltrating the underground facility in Fort Rouge. Even the chateau map in SE5 is better than the one in Resistance, even if the V1 launch installation is nice, but it is woefully understaffed with almost no soldiers guarding and operating it.
And thus it should surprise literally no one that as of now, March 14th, SE5 actually has a higher daily player peak on Steam than Resistance. 1,843 for SE5 vs 1,663 for Resistance. This is pathetic.
Resistance is a bare bones unpolished DLC add-on for SE5 that pretends to be a full price AAA game. If at least they would have put some effort in... proper story, actual cutscenes, bigger and better maps with more enemies instead of fewer... and then they also removed all Axis weapons from the campaign. So you get maybe half the experience SE5 offers.
Yeah two new Survival maps and then a copy / paste of a previous one, not ever one from further back or even Zombie Army is insulting to the people who'd paid good money for a "new" SE game.
When Atomfall's release date was announced I thought "great anything SE or ZA isn't happening" but then we got this. I do love the SE games but they're letting it wither and die before it's even going.
The updates have been poor, to the point where updates have broken as much as they fixed.
Then we had the community video today which didn't really offer much, mentioned MP maps but who wants to play that when it's full of cheaters. Oh wait they have Denuvo so there can't possibly be any cheating. And then no mention of Survival.
I've gone back to SE5 now, more enjoyable or at least it is right this minute. Heck, I'll even go and play Horde mode on Strange Brigade, which aside from one map that's broken (great support from Rebellion yet again) is excellent.
DLC releases before the 27th
Fairburn's armory will probably mean they're porting over Karl, along with some weapons.
and yeah, it remains to be seen what happens with the MP maps..
What I do expect though is the issue with ghost kills to be fixed almost immediately as that is how quickly it was broken it with an update, I seriously hope some NEW survival maps are planned for the dlc's otherwise this game is dead for me.
One further comment for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ who accused me of cheating in survival mode grow up, try switching off your kill cam in settings you can fire far quicker, set up the semi auto rifle, you can kill very quickly, use match rounds and explosive rounds for one shot kills, and finally nobody cheats in survival, I HOPE.
Most times I play solo anyway as its the only way to get all the challenges and medals.
For what this game does, it does very well. It was just not enough for the price and no new features. Now just a few DLC missions to wait for which will take a while.
Glad I got to play it but it was way overpriced.
Hopefully, Resistance won't take a back seat to Atomfall.
I think it's safe to say the price, bugs, decent community feedback coupled with rehashing old content has left a sour taste with the fans.
Many players from SE 4 and 5 did not even get on playing the game, waiting for all DLCs to be released, the majority of bugs fixed, and at a 90% discount.
