SE V2 was a terrible entry in the series, the graphics were nice but it was completely linear from start to finish. The first SE game was better but it had that dated PS2 era look. SE3 was a lot better because the maps were a lot more open and gave you more freedom, and they really hit it out of the park with SE4 which had massive maps with tons of freedom. They dialled it back in SE5 which is disappointing, but the weapon customization is a lot of fun and survival mode is great.
I don't know what SER will be like, and I'm afraid that they will make it really linear and basic when it needs to be wide open and complex.
OR... I don't get it and leave feedback. It is a forum for a reason. I'll be happy if my request is simply a spin-off title.
As to freedom, not sure what to say about this. As games emphasise "freedom" as per typical open worlds, they simple descend into boredom of repetitiveness simply because level designs and missions must cater to multiple pathways of approach nullifying linearity and script progression.
MGSV suffered heavily because of this. In contrast to 1/2/3 and even 4.
When it comes to Sniper Elite, simply sneak in, hide in grass or equivilent, throw rock, stealth kill, get into position, take shot, repeat. The shots are easy, I've beaten the game without aids and had the setting on realistic shooting mechanics, it really isn't that hard.
I'll take PS3 linear level design over anymore open world monotony of boring repetitive questing with collecting #/10 dog tags or opening #/50 supply crates thanks.
Edit:
I just want to post a few statistics here of end missions beaten:
V2 end mission [30.9% player base beat]
3 end mission [24.5% player base beat]
4 end mission [27.7% player base beat]
5 end mission [42.2% player base beat]
Guess the dialling back works, no?

I agree. The jungles of vietnam would be a good setting in my opinion

🙏🏻
Just a hunch, they've never made a side hustle game before. I'm hoping Rebellion made it and they didn't just outsource it like they did for the bad SE5 DLC missions.
I've watched a little of the videos posted but couldn't really get a feel for what SER looks like, can anyone comment about whether it seems to feel open or not?
I just tried Sniper Elite 5 on sale, laughed at the house being completely in yellow paint, and the "attic" (which isn't an attic) having white paint under its window in case the only window open with full lighting with a vine connecting to it wasn't enough to tell you the location. I uninstalled and finding this already in my games list, decided to fire it up and play the first mission and yes, I can see a reason for taking the first one even over 2. 2 still has the fun shooting gallery though.
I laughed at your posts because they’re boring. Sorry.
Good for you I guess? I am not paying £45 for it though.
