Co-op refuses to work
It's been over an hour and my friend and I have tried our best to connect to each other and it won't let us.

Resident evil 5 coop has never worked over windows live you need to use a virtual lan like Tunngle or Hamachi. Its easy to set up, heres the link.

Make a backup of your registry though otherwise your other windows live games won't be able to go online after you apply this reg edit

I know nothing about this registry stuff. I get the steps and all, how would I go about making a copy of them?

Yes, you can, I've been playing with a friend and it's always worked, if you both have Windows Live and are signed into it. Go to Play Game > Continue > then there will be a screen showing the character you're playing and the difficulty. Just click on the left of that screen (doesn't matter where so long you don't click on the start game button > The 'Network' page will appear. Change 'co-op settings' to 'Invite only'. Then start the game. Once you've started, press home to open Windows Live and go to ur friend's profile. At the top right there will be a invite button. Click that, and when ur friend opens their Windows Live and accepts the invite, voila!

Whenever any of my friends have tried to connect to each other it fails and when they do connect you get immediate desync. Also i would like to point out that you only have 2 hours on record with this game so you might have gotten lucky

And have you tried verifying your game. You just need to right click on the game in the steam library and click properties then local files then Verify integrity of game cache. Also if you played with a friend in coop then he might have the save file if you played as sheva

And here is the registry back up you asked for

got a solution.. close game.. go to windows firewall.. delete all resident evil entries... start game.... switch to windows... accept firewall rules... and it works.,.. im genious...

the problem isn't connection, its that the game has some kind of quirk where if the ping goes too high it boots the second player out the game thats why the tunngle crack is in place.

I admit I might've been lucky... but I asked the friend I've played with, and he's played RE5 for like 36 hours in two weeks, and he says it works 90% of the time... sorry but I don't know other solutions, hope you'll be able to connect soon!
