Resident Evil 5

Every time I attempt to run RE5 this window pops up:

and I subsequently get the APPCRASH error.

Pretty much tried everything mentioned in the forum so far. Full reinstall, run vcredists, run directx setup, run with/without gfwl, verify integrity of files, compatibility modes and run as admin, even fiddling around with the config file in documents. Nothing seems to stop this error from happening on startup.

It's just pretty frustrating.

I know it sucks big time but technically it's not advertised as being Windows 8 compatible. If you've got the Gold Edition there's a chance you might be able to get it working with Windows Compatibility settings but from what I've seen there are people running Windows 7 who've had trouble getting this to work.

It happens  Did you ever try loading the Fallout DLC from the official disc?

I don't pirate games and I don't advocate piracy but it would be nice if this stuff would just work. :/

I'm getting the same thing now which is strange, I played this a few weeks ago fine.

Windows 8.1 here too.

For what it's worth, I was getting the same error on Win7.

I changed the properties of the re5dx9 binary on the compatibility tab as follows:

- Program compatibility mode: Win7
- Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
- Do NOT run as administrator

Worked for me. See if it works for you too.

Hi having the same problem - did you make this fix running Resi 5 with or without GFWL? Thanks

It worked LoL. Capcom is still ♥♥♥♥ tho, never buying anything from them again.

Buy the game first and we'll talk then, pirate.

As much as I hate to revive a year old thread, I need help with the same episode. My game is having the exact same issue, But my computer is running Windows 10. I've tried everything in my power, reinstalling GFWL a whole bunch aswell as the solution in this thread, and a bunch of other things- But nothing works. The weird thing is that It was working just fine earlier, but now completely refuses to boot up with the same issue as OP. I would really appreciate if anyone could provide any sort of help.
