Crash / Bug Report Thread
Hey Resident Evil Fans,

While we hope all of our fans will have a great time with the newly Steamworks-enabled Resident Evil 5, there will always be cases where something may not function correctly under certain environments, or due to hardware or software. That said, we're looking for feedback from the community from those of you who may be running into issues with crashes or just various bugs.

Before posting, please note that we are aware of some issues, such as some GFWL keys not activating as well as GFWL save data not being recognized.

NOTE: This bug report thread is specifically for the new Steamworks version of the game. While we have released a "beta" branch for the original GFWL version (more information here), you are doing so at your own discretion, and we can not offer additional support for the GFWL branch.

If you'd like to submit feedback, please post in the thread here with the following:

Feedback Outline
A) Your System Specs (Please be as specific as possible!)
  1. CPU name and model
  2. Graphics card/chip model
  3. Video driver version number
  4. Monitor refresh rate
  5. System memory size
  6. OS version (Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
  7. OS language
  8. In-game settings (fps, resolution, anti-aliasing, refresh rate, v=sync, etc.)

It would also be very helpful if you can also generate and post a link to your dxdiag file -- a file generated from DirectX Diagnostics Tool -- which provides detailed hardware, software, and driver setup for your PC. Directions on how to generate this file can be found here[www.fuzeqna.com].

B) Specific issue
Please share the specific issue and the area where you are experiencing the said behavior - if it's something happening outside of the game, such as a crash before the game starts, letting us know how you're trying to start the game or any messages that come up beforehand are helpful, too.

C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible.
This step in particular is extremely helpful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

I use a logitech bluetooth headset. Whenever I start an online room or join one, my audio goes away entirely. Characters say lines that never dissapear, rendering level 2-3 impossible as they'll never finish their conversation in the car, forcing me to play single player.

1. The weapon SIG 556 in chapter 5-2 isn't in a suitcase and stands without on the table.
2. (Not sure if it's a bug) If I open a door softly, the doorsound comes a little bit earlier as soon as the character touched the door.
3. Trading weapons with the AI isn't possible.
4. Some ingame-videos are lower than 60fps - for example the intro. But the game itself works fine on 60fps.

more bugs/glitches/issiues from campaing i tryed to separete in topcs

all: how am i supose to interac with the other player if he joined mid campaing? add to the steam overlay the same messaging/friends features that had on the GFWL overlay i played today with 3 diferent players and wanted to add them to play more but i had no way to do it at least display the gamertag over the character

all: any key object that gets highlighted in full screen has graphical artefacts not related to hardware

DLC: why was local coop removed from the 2 extra chapters? (at least add lan coop to those)

all: remove the region lock from match making or most plyers will have problems finding matches on line (i am unable to play with prety much all of my friends because of ths stupidity)

all single player: not being able to swap weapns with the AI partner is a uge bother fix it (note that on the extra stages you can)

6-3 the odd colision thing again final boss wesker was stuck on the side of the ramp for 10 seconds before i shoot him to get him unstuck

4-2 were the hell did the flowers go? those are important for the story of the game

all: there are black out lines in some places and characters

all: near zero AA (if not zero) on most shadows


capcom you did not have to report this game from a xbox 360 you just had to add the DLC content

then how the heck that heaven benchmark used it on dx10 o.O

any way if not tesselation the game is missing some polygons (and a good amount :D: )

i will report a graphic bug.



_ all the glows of the game are floating around and out of place from the light source.
i cant load a picture here but look to any light source laike a lamp and will se the glow is not in the right place it seems displaced

is a bug like residente vil 4 ultimate edition had before was corrected all the glows were out of place candles torches, here is the same.


i dont remember in the original pc version get the items in low res and the intro of the game in low res ...

Intro of the game is a prerendered movie, from consoles, light sources in almost all areas have a displacement yeah, that wasnt present at all on the gfwl version,

lol at tesellation....there are bugs, but i dont see any other difference, characters, enemies look the same, but that doesnt mean the bugs shouls be ignored, it should be fixed.

  • Not able to give or request Weapons from AI partner, but still works in Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape.

Chapter 5-3 Boss

Lost in Nightmares/Desperate Escape
Jill is missing her update Sound effects for walking and Melee, in the console Version she had an updated sound pack what was actually really nice, i hope this can be fixed.

The Mercenaries Reunion
Barry is missing taunt sound effect's ("i have this!", "What is this?") when doing ground melee (Miranda rights) and placing proximity Bomb. You can see it in the official capcom Trailer of Barry for console at 0:11

i hope this sound errors can be fixed because this are the little thinks they make Barry so nice. :penny:

Versus Mode
    Survivors/Team Survivors
  • Player can lose the default Weapon and leaves them without any Weapon in the worst case. That was never like this on Console.

    Team Slayers
  • I had a bug by joining a Team Slayers session, after a few seconds it said the host has ended session and i was stuck on the session list. Only way was Alt+F4 out of the game. The session was still there, i tried again, same error. Maybe a ghost session that was already ended but still listed?

  • Also maybe a bug with the session search because this above mentioned Team Slayers session was the only on i ever found until now.

BUG some cutscenes run at low FPS while giving a high framrate reading (120 reading but the cutscene looks like it's chugging?)

White screen and hang right after entering new game/chapter 1. An error window pop up and said "Unsupported Function".

Add a global lobby option for all MP modes!

GFWL allowed you to connect with people from all over in the main lobby.

Current system restricts players to their current Steam Download server.

If not obvious enough, this issue will KILL public games very quickly and we will have to resort to the steam community for organized matches.

Add please a choise, when we play with keyboard and mouse, a laser point, like you made in resident evil 6 options, who want play with it, who dont want, play without, I just got used to the laser sight when playing GFWL version, please Capcome made it
