Resident Evil 5
Controls Constantly Keep Switching Between Keyboard/Mouse and Xbox Controller
It just keeps auto switching over and over and I don't know why.
All of these devices were checked and work fine for everything else.

I'm on Widows 10 preview build 10547.
All drivers up to date.
Intel 4770k
780ti Windforce

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think the recently added support for Non-Steam Controllers (remapping through Steam, altering response Curve, ...) interferes with the game. Try disabling support for your Controller in the Steam Overlay or exiting Steam _after_ launching the game (not sure if it works with the Steam version - I tested it with the GOG version). If it's not Steam try locating and disabling 3rd-party controller remapping/emulator software.
same problem
I was having this exact problem on the GOG version, and nerdbeere's approach helped me.

For me the fix was to not have Steam running in the background. I had done a lot of remapping and messing with controller configs to get big picture mode and emulators working via Steam link. I assume if a custom controller config is running it messes with the input detection in some way.

Now it's fixed for me :)
Indeed go to big picture mode and disable all the desktop configurations for the controller. it wont bug you anymore.
yeah, I'm playing on GOG and disabling steam was the trick that did it for me
I'm also having this problem but on Rockstar Launcher
make sure the controller's joystick is not touching the ground.
Having this issue for about a month now. It happens with my pro controller, ps4, and xbox 1 controller...
windows 10 is just garbage it seems

anyone have a solution?

unplug mouse
if that doesn't work, unplug keyboard

mice, especially optical mice, usually have an input that software negates if it doesn't cross a certain threshold. RE5's compensatory negation isn't as high as for other programs, so your mouse can become "active". I had this issue until I got a mousepad, that changed the reflective surface and effectively "fixed" the issue, but the issue should be fixed *regardless* if you just unplug

keyboard normally doesn't have a constant input, but some keyboards do, whether because of macro, some hardware or software fault or whatever. again, if you unplug, that should usually negate any input, then there you go.

the other stuff others are writing about I have no personal experience with. But you could try their solutions too.

(edit - if you have other inputs, like flight controller, pedals, whatever- try unplugging those too. Sometimes they emulate keyboard inputs or even if not have inputs, and sometimes that messes with things).

this helped for me: https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/comments/9k09e5/forza_horizon_4_pc_ds4_controller_issue/
Been looking online for a fix for the past hour to no avail… I just unbound all my kb controls and it works a bit better. So far, best I could find.
This first started happening when I added keyboard configs on apex but the issue persisted even afterwards. I was playing on rocket league through epic games, when I when I disabled my controller on steam it fixed it but I am still trying to find a better and more permanent fix to the issue. This is the only forum I could find on the issue.
So i know this is steam but if you own RDR2 on another account if you close steam it stopped switching for me
any solution yet?
Launch steam in big picture mode before launch and have controllers setup
