windows 8.1 here. no problems, even with dx10.
Lies. The fear mongering of Windows 8 needs to stop. It's a reliable OS and I've had little issue with it and gaming. Game runs excellent for me. Win 8.1 64-bit. The issue obviously lies elsewhere.

Is that the message you are getting? "Not compatible with Windows 8"? I am running it here with a Windows 8.1 and it is working flawlessly (if anything with GFWL attached can be said to work at all).

That is just plain weird. Never saw this kind of error. Searched it over the internet and did not find anything related. Is that something Steam is showing you? Or is it a Windows message? If it is Steam, try checking integrity of game files via Steam client. If it is a Windows message, then you may want to check your Windows. Are you updated to the latest drivers? Is your Windows original and updated to the last version as well? As a last resort, I would try reinstalling the game. Reinstalling Windows seems too much trouble just for RE5.

I have decided to try Resident Evil 5 again, i am using Wiondows 8 but have heard that there are some things you can try to work around the problems. Usually i would just give up with stuff like this but Resident Evil 5 was such a great game, not the best ever but still a really enjoyable game and it deserves a 2nd chance. Hopefully Capcom will 1 day release a proper Steamworks version of Resident Evil 5 but it seems we won't be seeing it for quite some time yet. I will let people know how it turns out on my end, i am not getting my hopes up though.
