4k resolution low fps
Hello i have a laptop with an rtx 3080
16gb ram
And ryzen 5900hs cpu. When running the re5 variable benchmark in 4k I get around 45 fps with max graphics. Going down to 1440p is only about 95 fps in the gameplay benchmark. This seems very low for my specs and I check nvidia control panel and it's set to use the gpu. Anyone know what can be done to bring the fps up?

you can try this mod
https://github.com/Lyall/RE5Fix
works with the updated version of the game that uses steam 😀

Question is do you need higher than 60 FPS on RE5, what I hear everywhere is too high FPS will be more problem with the game play then the win... game is made 2009

wouldnt call it low fps, its 4k after all

laptop grapic cards have always been weak and your components dosent look record breaking to me, so 45 fps at 4k with max settings seems ok to me

additionally, only becasue a game is old it doesent mean you get 400 fps for granted. the game was designed and optimized for a diffrent generation of hardware.
you should be happy that your abel to run it with your "super laptop"

How much VRAM does your RTX 3080 have? at 4K it's much more demanding

Just tested my Laptop with:

Laptop Screen closed !!

Samsung 55" 4K QLED-TV without HDMI 2.1 Cable
(HDMI 2 1 Cable can get 120 FPS and 4K)

Benchmark test from RE5 Start Menu

Area 1: 59,7 FPS
Area 2: 59,9 FPS
Area 3: 60,0 FPS
Area 4: 60,0 FPS

Average = 59,9 FPS

AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti
1920x1080x32bit (ARGB8) -> Full HD
DirectX 9.0c

Area 1: 59,1 FPS
Area 2: 59,9 FPS
Area 3: 59,9 FPS
Area 4: 59,8 FPS

Average = 59,8 FPS

AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti
3840x2160x32bit (ARGB8) -> 4K
DirectX 9.0c

Lenovo Laptop Screen only !!

Area 1: 119,3 FPS
Area 2: 120,0 FPS
Area 3: 120,0 FPS
Area 4: 120,0 FPS

Average = 119,9 FPS

Going above 60 FPS on offline is fine (As long as you dont care about AI behaviour). But during online sessions one of the players will be dissconected at some point and cause certain figths to last longer.

5-2 Uroboro, the flamethower damage is calculated due FPS so playing above 120 can cause the uroboro get stunlocked the entire figth. That uroboro has some sort of iframes for each time it gets stun freezing his health arround 1.5k or 2.1k deoending the difficulty and not going down until you let him move. On 120 fps or above you need to hold your fire for at least 15 secs while playing that section at 60 allows you to burn it to the ground.

5-3, Jill can escape from you while you had to spam F

Something must be wrong here. I had the same GPU, Except that it isnt a ryzen 7, it is an i5 and the 1650 Ti is teh GDDR6 version.

At 1080p with MSAA X8 and 8xSSAA with Ambient Oclussion on quality (All this things are forced from the GPU Panel control) runs at 120 fps @ 3840x2160 and 180 @ 1920x1080 and based with the next results which are these

I belive optimus is screwing you over. See if your laptop has the option to disable it or try to run the test again with the laptop screen closed while the game is running on the TV

Yeah, but we are talking about a 2008 game that it is running on DX9.

And the big issue comes when my GTX 1650Ti runs the game at 4k with the enhaced details from NVIDIA panel control activated at steady 60 FPS (If i get rid of ambient oclussion i can leae the FPS uncapped but since i had it on Quality the Game stutters on certain areas like weskers figth)

An RTX should run this game 4 times better even with NVIDIA AI Upscaling activated.

The only thing that i can come up with is the CPU line on the .ini file on Documents/Capcom/Resident evil 5.

Certain config.ini have the next line missing:

[CPU]
JobThread=8
RenderingThread=ON

This line should below "Sound" and rigth above "Joypad" without spaces

And sometimes it has it but it is worng.

Example, when i used to play on a i3 back on 2015 it was a dual core and the JobThread was on =6, When that i3 only had 4 logical threads. On regular gameplay this affected on FPS, the game was only averaging 45 fps on 800x600. When i switch this number down to =4 the game went up to 120 fps even during 4 players no mercy matches.

Also, check if the SLI line is on "OFF". RE6 and RE REV2 turn it on by default even if you dont have to GPU working at the same time and that causes some serious stabilty issues.
