Does online co-op still work?

Hello, this game has been rotting in my steam library for god knows how many years and I wish to give it a shot by baiting my friend into buying it next time it goes on sale.

However, I do not know if online co-op still works since I know there were a lot of shenanigans with removing GFWL from this game, so I am not sure if I am baiting my friend into wasting money (he will only play this together, not solo).

If co-op works - do I need to install any mods for it to work? Or does it work from the get go?

Hey, yes it works and you don't need to install anything! I'm actually also trying to find someone to play co-op with. But in this case i'm looking for someone that want's to play versus or survivor mode. (trying to get does 9 online achievements that i'm missing ^^").
But yeah short aswer you can still play with friends without installing anything!

They updated the game over a year ago to get rid of that GFWL requirement, you're good to go
