How to make split screen go away

Look, I'm obviously missing something very easy and simple here. But every time I try and go in my inventory in this game, the split screen starts, and then I control both characters. I have to exit out of the game and reload my saved game every time I want to get rid of the split screen. I'm just trying to play by myself here, with one character. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Thanks so much. Sorry for being dumb :(

I thing he mented that, that he Is playing on controler (or on M&K with Controler pluged in) and when he wants to go to ItemBox trought restart, then after pressing pause game forces him to enter SplitScreen mode.
Whitch he don't obv. want.
Then he quit game insted of exiting SplitScreen from pause menu.
He's looking for solution.

Yes, sorry- I am playing with a controller, an Nvidia SHield controller, and I use Steam Link to play the game on my tv, from my laptop. And when I go into the item box, the game forces me to enter split screen mode. I don't understand why this is happening, I do not want split screen mode, as I am the only player. Anybody have any solutions?

Well i sayed before, you can exit SplitScreen mode from pause menu in game.
The game it self have this small issue, that when you:
- Enter new area
- Hit checkpoint
- Enter map from ItemBox
Then after that you have to wait like 10sec. To NOT pressing pause button on controler othetwise you will be send to SplitScreen.
So to avoid this is to be fully aware about this and not pressing pause button immediately when entering new area.
If you just Really need to go itembox quickly, try pressing ESC on keyboard and navigate trougt pause menu with mouse or keyboard without touching controler.
(It's not the best, this is what i can say, since im not playing with Controler, and when i was testing SplitScreen after update, i tryed things what i mentioned above and it worked.
Surly it would be better to have extra button in game/pause menu to enter SplitScreen, insted of pressing "pause" and then move with Controler to enter it...)

Or if you want.
You can apply Current version of "QoL Fixes" into game, whitch will downgrade your game.
Older version does not have SplitScreen as it is now.
IF you willing to add this, you will be limmited mainly for SinglePlayer or with others, that olso have patch in game.

Ok, if you willing to play Online on Current game version , whitch is 1.2.0 (patched game will set your game to 1.0.6) then simly verifie integrity of game, and it will put game back to normal.
