failed open file wp0100.mod 183

The only thing remotely close to a file with this name is the "wp0100.efl" file located in the following directory :

nativePC_MT -> effect -> efl -> wp -> wp01

It has to be this, or you're using a mod that's conflicting / causing issues with a file that has the same name as mentioned in your title. Did you try verifying the integrity of your game files, and if yes, did that fix the issue ?

Recently someone contacted me about a crash on chapter 3-2, and it turned out they had a specific file missing, file that was not present in the latest CAPCOM update, a file I only found from my vanilla backup of the previous game version that I happen to have laying around. Their problem was fixed as soon as they downloaded and added that file I sent them, perhaps you're missing this file I mentioned above ?

oh i see, i have this problem with 3-2 chapter, i already checked the integrity game and it was not fixed, i think there is a missing file, would u send me?

Opa, hoje de manhã passei pelo mesmo problema,sempre que chegava na Oil Fields (capítulo 3-2) o jogo simplesmente crashava com a mesma mensagem acima.
no meu caso estranhamente a faca do chris estava como "Reunion Knfe" no trainer (não sei como já que,eu não tinha instalado nenhum mod ou usado nenhum trainer até então) o que fiz foi baixar o ultimate trainer de Raz0r & Dante e, mudei a faca pro padrão que devia ser "Knife (Chris)" depois disso dei restart, fechei o trainer e consegui jogar normalmente.

Something tells me you changed Chris' knife with the trainer. Story mode Josh and Irving (although only used for a cutscene) use Chris' knife, and the game expects it to already be loaded in memory. Solution: Enable "Ignore missing files" with the trainer or just restore Chris' knife

Tranquilo. Esse erro começou do nada para mim. fazia pouco mais de ano que eu não jogava e depois do último update quis matar a saudade e baixei o jogo. só que, esse bendito erro não me deixava progredir. aí vi que era a bendita faca do chris que estava bugada nem sei como já que instalei o jogo do zero,uma instalação limpa sem mods nem nada. enfim espero que dê tudo certo para você

Try restoring 10th slot.
If you still have trainer, simply freeze 10th slot, select right knife (chris knife)
And unfreeze it.
This will put the knife at chris's knife slot.
Thas restoring it/fixing it.

Or the other way, make a "New Save File"...
