Windows 11 Crashing on Startup
Are there any other fixes for RE5 not launching on win 11? I've tried both maluc and ricks patch. I've also tried all the GFWL files all on separate installs. I've enabled directplay and tried both hdmi and displayport cable, nothing is working. Would appreciate any more fixes if there are any.

I'm in the same boat as you. Tried literally everything but actually never got the Steam version working on my Win 11 build. So far I only managed to get the og GFWL beta version running under Direct X10. Since the Direct X9 version of the beta doesn't work for me and the latest Steam build (which should have removed any remnants of GFWL prerequisites) is running only under Direct X9, it seems DX9 as an API might be the culprit. I also read in a tech article that Microsoft basically crimpled DX9 for some Win 11 machines with one of the updates a year back or so.

You might wanna take a look in the og GFWL build under the beta path and check if you are also able to retrace the issue on incompatibilities with the game running under DX9. I would be really curious to see if you are virtually experiencing the same problem.

Also do you mind sharing some info on your specs? I'm running on an i5-12600KF CPU and an AMD RX 6700XT GPU.

Judging by activity on SteamDB there allegedly has been a patch in the works for a few months now but only god knows if that one could fix that problem. When or if capcom even bothers to release one at all is a different matter entirely.

Strangely I can't see any beta branches under properties? I had my friend check as well and we both only have "none" as an option, so I'm not sure how to get access to that. My specs are an EVGA 3090 and i9 12900k. At first I thought it was maybe a problem with the new CPUs but I had this last year and I was playing the game fine in December. The only thing I've changed since December was switching from a 4k monitor to 1080p which I feel should have less issues? Really frustrating, I hope there really is a patch coming soon...

I also read that the game is indeed "allergic" to some monitors. Especially if you have not installed the dedicated proprietary drivers for your monitor. Since I upgraded my rig I'm using an wqhd 144hz monitor. Used a pretty standard 1080p 60hz monitor with my old setup which ran this game no problem. I might switch monitors to test things out but even if that works it would kinda defeat the purpose since I hoped to play this in 120fps. Strangely enough the beta works flawlessly with the newer one though.

Thanks for the advice about it being the monitor. My game is now working, turns out my ViewSonic XG2431 24” 240Hz IPS monitor is NOT compatible with RE5. I've got the latest drivers installed as well and it's recognised properly in device manager. The game is running perfectly off my LG CX TV though. It might just be your monitor as well. give it switch up and see.
