there is basically "saving..." on the top right of the screen where "checkpoint..." appears too when it's saving.It normally saves a lot already,like every 1 or 2 checkpoints and every end\start of chapter.
Just play and you will eventually reach saves.

I don't know what happen.

weird...do the other games save normally instead?
My theories are a corrupted save file,blocked permission on the folder where the save files go or just issues that a patch can solve (if you don't have any patch yet).

Checkpoints will get you back, when you die.
When you exit to other map, your progress will be save.
You can't quit in middle of the map.

Add me , If you need more INF.

or do this:
Start game , and go to the locations, where you get your first weapon. when cut-sceen end and you can shoot, go to menu, and hit continue.

- If your save file is corrupted, it will tell you , that game can't save it propetly.

I have to tell you. I play this game about 2 hours and go to chapter 2-1, When I want to exit game it tell me the game doesn't save If you exit :( ty for advice.

But before you try to do it, make sure, that you don't have GFWL version.

Well, obviously, if you don't see a "save" option in the menu, then there is no manual save. A person who played a lot of games knows that. There are some exceptions, where you need a specific "object" (typewriter, mirror, etc) for save. "How to autosave": you mean "how the autosave works". That would be the correct sentence. In RE5, there are two type of saves. Checkpoint and save (well, auto-save). When you reach a checkpoint, if you die (or go to the menu and press RESTART), you will start from that point. Remember to not leave the game when you reach a checkpoint or it will load the SAVE instead of the CHECKPOINT. A save means that your game saved and you can exit the game so when you die or LEAVE the game (exit completely or crashes) you can CONTINUE from that point.

For example, in chapter 1-2, after the executioner fight in chapter 1-1 (the guy with the big axe) there is a red door. After going to the next area, the game will auto-save. After some time (killing some enemies and stuff) there will be a checkpoint. If you leave the game (for whatever reason) the game will load the SAVE, meaning, at the start of the red door, not the CHECKPOINT that you reached later on.

About the "save progress" question when leaving the game: If you press YES, all what you collected after the checkpoint or save will be saved in your inventory. If you press NO, you will only have the items you collected before the last checkpoint or save

I think you guys are completely missing the point here, he cannot save the game ever, even during checkpoints because of a save error, i too have this issue and just found out the solution, basically, it's your anti virus, check windows security and then protection history, if you look at the recent history you will see that it's blocking the game from accessing the save location.

Just click on actions and allow and you should be fine.

I'm disappointed.But I think problem is GFWL,It can't launch program.

I issume , that you have Windows 10 or 11.

If you not aware about this, then in short:

GFWL is no longer supported on Wind. 10 and 11

If you refuse to use some of the patches (maluc / rick) \/
There are some ways, to propetly install it, or download some of the Files nessery to run the game.
(some offline instalation will install gfwl , but will damage the game so you will not be able to create save file)

Install the community patch. The "quality of life" or "mml", both makes the game playable. There are guides for it
