No sound
OK i dont understand, this has never happened before. I used to have sound, now i dont, and its the ONLY game that has no sound so its not my headset, its not the volume mixer etc. I had this problem with MGS rising revengance and i had to install a C++ redist pack, but i dont kknow if thats the issue here
EDIT: The Fix is to hit Ctrl+alt+shift to open task manager, find kraken usb apo helper (32 bit), and end its process, or open its file location and delete the helper.exe.

Same problem here!

I have investigated the issue and here is what i know so far; 1. Using an external audio device with a usb makes the sounds work, 2. There must have been a windows update or something with the computer audio driver that messes it up. 3. I have no idea how to fix this and it might be microsoft that needs to send out an audio update or windows update to fix it, a windows 10 update must have broken this. 4. this is not exclusive to resident evil 5, some other select games have this problem as well such as EDF 4.5

I got sound to work one time, it was unintentional though. The no sound issue was also coupled with not being able to load, or save game. The fix that i followed was by unplugging my internet, shutting down steam, going to my "D:\STEAM\userdata\****my steam profile number****\21690 and deleted that folder "its the resident evil 5 save folder", going back on steam in offline mode, and creating new game. The sound was back, and i could save/load. Today though....no sound again, i can still save and load, but i don't want to keep resetting my save, and losing progress everytime. I hope someone can find a fix, I really enjoy playing RE5

I have no idea if this is what worked, but i have sound again. I installed resident evil operation raccoon city, and there are some issues with that game as well on modern windows "no ♥♥♥♥ right?" so there is this fix where you uninstall games for windows live, and market place, install the new one etc... LINK https://steamcommunity.com/app/209100/discussions/0/1743358239832090995/ scroll down to the "if you have a windows 10" section for the info. I don't know if that fixed the sound, or if the redist pack that came with first time install fixed it, but now i have sound again

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, every time I fix the sound, the next pc restart has no sound again

ok so another update, in the process of fixing resident evil operation raccoon city, I thought i fixed re5, I did kind of, but it wasnt what i thought it was. the first time i ran operation raccoon city, the game was frozen, alt tab didnt work, ctrl+shift+esc didnt work, so i did ctrl+alt+del. I used to just restart from there but one day i changed habits, and started just signing off while rapidly hitting esc. The result is your brought back to your desktop with no background, or minimal background processes running in the background. hitting esc rapidly cancels the sign out, but not just before shutting the majority of your processes off. That is what fixed the RE5 sound issue for me. I am nor going to leave it at that though, as i wanted to further investigate the issue. after a long process of shutting down the background processes one by one until i had sound, for me the culprit is "Kraken USB APO helper (32 bit)" once i shut that down i have sound, im pretty positive that its because i use razer kraken usb headset. I will further investigate this, and see if there is a better fix then just shutting down the kraken usb apo helper, "btw this also works for diablo 2 sound problems that people were having"
GLITCH Dec 16, 2019 @ 7:41pm
i researched into kraken usb apo helper, and i found a few forums that have same no sound bug, but different games, and its all from the kraken usb apo helper, or chroma helper if you have razer chroma headset...anyways they all have disabled the dam thing, and they have sound with no issues. the dam thing is supposed to help, but they cant figure out what it "actually does" as shutting it down from task manager seems to have no negative consequence. I took it a step further and right clicked it, went to find file location, then deleted the kraken usb helper.exe that seems to give me sound and i have no draw back as of yet. i know this unorthodox so i apologize.

Interesting! Excellent find! I DO have a razer kraken headset so that must be it! Thanks for the hard work and excellent job!

let me know if going to the task manager and shutting down the 'Kraken USB APO Helper (32 bit)" process helps you as well. That way I can confirm that I'm on the right path, and not just doing a 100 things and going "this must be it !!!' like a mad man

The Kraken APO helper is the problem! Cheers m8.

Thank you for the confirmation, i had to be sure before i suggested this fix for anyone else. I even right clicked the kraken usb apo from the task manager, found its file location, then deleted the helper.exe. I have full function of my headset, and all my games have sound XD
