Delete Game For Windows Live
I know a lot of people are having trouble starting the game. I feel it the same way. For security reasons, I'm not going to download any files from unknown sites. I know the program doesn't want to automatically update from microsoft servers.

Now there is news that Bethesda has removed GFWL from GOTY Fallout 3. Why can't Capcom do it?

They're lazy and the RE5 community for the most part don't care, they rather rely on fan patches over an official patch.

+1 for this. Seriously Capcom, it's 2021 and GFWL has been dead for years. Fix your game!

It seems interesting that RE5 still requires Games for Windows Live even though it uses Steamworks. I believe the reason for requiring GFWL was likely to import progress from GFWL to Steam. In contrast, Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record don't require GFWL.

It's hard to know if Capcom will update the game. I know RE5 could use some improvements given the bugs the game has such as the infamous 6-1 progress block where the Majini with the Crane keycard fails to drop down (usually the enemy would confront the player).

The issue is with "AI path finding" , from some reason , when BOT/1st player is stucked in cage, enemy can't find way to her, so he just spin.
There is plenty ways to get that bastard down.
(Shooting crank operator / Updating enemy paths / go back and shot him from top of the tower / and others...)
