re5dx9.exe fatal application exit ERR09
I've tried unofficial patches, GFWL keeps installing itself even after I delete it every time I start up the game. The benchmark runs great, but the game simply won't play.

Set the game resolution to 1920x1080 max, anything higher than that will crash the game

Thanks, that works, but also stupid at the fact they allowed for higher settings knowing it would crash it.

I think the game supposed to work at higher resolution on the GFWL version, when GFWL is closed then the developer did a really bad frankenstein patch on the game, I am using an ultrawide monitor and seen people been playing this for the 21:9 resolution, but no luck on there, seems like the new non GFWL version is broken

Lyall's RE5Fix found over at GitHub (first Google search result) is a wonderful mod
that offers many features and fixes, fixes that are related to issues the game has
with higher resolution monitors.
Everything inside the .ini file is toggleable by setting the argument under each option
to either "True" or "False" respectively. I've had a bunch of people I tried helping out
respond back to me in an attempt to thank me for recommending the mod to them.
Give it a try, and hopefully if will fix your problems.
