[SOLVED/SOLUTION] "inflate: incorrect data check : - 3" crash on Chapter 1-1

I was playing co-op with a friend (he's the host), we got to Chapter 1-1's finale where we were being attacked by hordes of Majinis.

We beat that spot TWO times, yet nothing was saved except for me (meaning that even if I kill the Executor and get his jewel, only I have it, not him, same with ammo and the like).

He gets an error with it, the error says "inflate: incorrect data check : - 3"

Just what could be the problem?

Also, we tried this without any unofficial fixes, then we did with Maluc's unofficial patcher, same problem same error.

Try verifying game cache, looks like some files are damaged.

It was a brand new install.

Found a possible solution;

Reinstall this https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26368 (Both 86x and 64x)

Reinstall DirectX with this https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

That should be it. He either had an issue with Visual C++, it having some broken files or it wasn't even updated, or DirectX itself with the same possible issues.
