Say your partner has a piece that they picked up before you joined. Or you have a piece you picked up before they joined. When you're trying to put the pieces in the door, the game crashes because you need both partners to have been playing when each of the pieces was gathered.
I think other chapter's aren't like that so much. Maybe another level that uses something similar. Keys like in 1-2 generally not - the joining player can't open the door if they weren't there for the key pickup, but the game doesn't crash if the other player that has the key opens the door.
Workaround - restart the chapter, make sure both players present when any pieces picked up.
I don't know if that's what's happening in your game, but that's one thing that causes it to crash when I play.
It shows me 3 different messages when crash it, if I remember well, the first one is about an error with directX 9, the second one says something about being to away or so (can't remember about that) and the third one says something about an overrun. I don't know why this happen, to be honest with you a long time ago I download a pirate copy of the game and works so fine without problems, I finish the game several times, unlock almost everything and so and now that is an original game have this issues, I just don't get it.
I'm also having these problems. It either says there's a problem with the directX9, a memory overload (which doesn't make sense), or it just straight up freezes on me when I try to start any beginning point on a chapter. If I'm lucky enough, the game loads in everything for me to play. But its almost impossible to start a game now. I tried to run the executable through the local files and from there it immediately crashes.
Well, I don't have an issue to load the game, specially in this chapter 3-1 but yesterday I was able to play another chapter, I joined online to chapter 4-1 and the game let me play it trough the chapter 4-2 and there was no problem. I will try to end the game from that point because I went back to the chapter 3 and crash again. It says the same to me of the Direct and the memory overun and something about a compreshion method and a distance i think. Well I will try to finish the game, try to do it too.
But it will crash forever? Because I try to play it on solo but it also crash and I'm playing now on chapters ahead but it feels weird
