Resident Evil 5
How to connect in online CO-OP?
My girlfriend and I recently purchased RE5, and we want to be able to play through the story mode together, but when I have my game started, and I'm in the very beginning village, (with the guys kicking the flailing sack), yet my girlfriend says that her join game screen shows no games for her to join. Is there a fix for this? Are we doing something wrong? Is GFWL the only way to play online CO-OP, and if so, how does it work?

Plz halp.

I recently started playing with a friend. We are connecting just fine, no GFWL used. We are connecting trough steam invites, not trough the in game menu (I don't think I ever even opened it). So try connecting by selecting her in the friends list and clicking "Join Game".
Alright! I'll try this once we're both home from work. Thank you!

You can also try installing this mod pack. It drops GFWL, adds a laser sight for KB+M, installes the fan patches and a couple other fixes as well, no changes to the content.
This is something I arranged for a friend, so that he wouldn't have to bother searching for how to "fix" the game. Just drop the contents in the root folder.
What are the fan patches, if you know? Does my girlfriend need this same mod installed for us to play together? Also, we got it working for CO OP last night, so thank you for that :D

Also, do I need to unzip the files once they're in the root folder for them to work?

Hey, man I can't find the root folder to RE5, and I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thank, in advance.

This game has a default region lock. If online sessions aren't in the region of the player, when said player searches for a game, they don't see those sessions. However, joining through Steam by clicking "join game" on a friend or through an invite will still allow a person to join that game, even if they're from a different region.

Usually, it's Steam\steamapps\common\Resident Evil 5. Alternatively, right-clicking the installed game in Steam's list view, going to properties, and selecting "browse local files" will also bring you to that location.

Yes, and as a general rule of thumb, most mods need to be extracted before becoming usable. It's bad practice to put compressed files in a game's directory if they're not doing anything. Extract the files to a familiar location (such as the desktop, documents, or another familiar place where it can be found in case you need it again) and then copy those files over to the root folder for the game, making sure to replace any existing files if a message appears to do so. Most Windows versions come with built-in software, but if you don't have the option to extract, a program such as 7-Zip[www.7-zip.org] can be used for free at your own discretion.

The region lock would only affect public matches or searching for sessions in-game. You can safely invite and join through that invite without any extra mods or fan fixes. I'd still recommend using the fan fix, though, as it solves some common issues as well as the region lock. The Bugs Found in RE5 So Far thread explains everything that it fixes, as well as has an up-to-date link to Maluc's fixes within it. Lastly, it doesn't matter if one or both players has the mod.
You're the real MVP my dude 👉😎👉
