Trust in RE5

So I see there's an achievement where you have to build up trust with a computer controlled partner through healing, thanking, etc. Probably I got this a long time ago when I played this game for Xbox 360, and I probably won't have an issue now.

However, I'm curious - does building up trust with the computer in RE5 affect anything other than this? Does the computer become more effective if it "trusts" you?

I don't think it actually changes anything about the AI partner, I think it's solely for the achievement.

It doesn't do much some say it makes them very accurate but not proof.
