Question is how exactly VR is planned to be implemented, fully interact in jet/heli with vr controllers or just put headset on and play on joystick/throttle ?
Second option is also great but fully interact vr will be muuuuuch more better, ofc i know it's possible hard to do that when game was done for flat screen.
VTOL VR shows about the peak of VR only control. Its nicely done but I still far prefer to actually hold a joystick. Throttle is okay in VR, a hybrid approach might be the best, one hand on an actual joystick the other holding a controller for cockpit interactions. Its a tough one. DCS lets you do both although its VR interactions aren't anywhere near VTOL VR level. In the end for most flight sims I'd be perfectly happy using my HOTAS, thats an easy win for VR support. Controller integration is a much thornier issue.

There is VTOL VR Mod Manager right on Steam where you can map HOTAS for VTOL VR, as well as using mouse/keyboard.

Thanks for this! I tried a HOTAS mod a while ago and never got it to work so I've never been able to enjoy this game, but I don't think the mod was through the steam workshop. I might give it another try.

Actually just after looking, it's a separate program you can download on steam for free called "VTOL VR Mod Loader", and it has its own workshop from which you can select "BYO Joystick". It's literally the third most popular mod, after the F16 and the Supercarrier, so I think that says something about how much people want this feature.

I get the devs have a commitment to a particular vision but that doesn't mean they're right.

....and how!!!!
I personally just want to use a VR headset for camera control. I like my HOTAS and want to use it, being strapped into the game even more with a VR headset allowing me to just look around would be incredibly immersive.

Yes, VR is planned for a future update!
i would be more than happy to help you implement this right. I heard in an interview recently that vr will be 'one of the last' things... you will shoot yourself in the foot trying it that way. The earlier you get the baseline functionality in and start to develop around having it, the less stuff you will have to redo to make it work. PLEASE for the sake of your game take this into consideration.

+1

I really like VTOL VR's manual control, but it takes a lot of work. A simple VR 6dof implementation would suffice, as FS2020/2024, would be enough to satisfy me for very good immersion.

VtolVR has 6 times the amount of owners and 2 the amount of active players. Certainly worthy to consider VR asap

LOL, says every 'no VR, no Buy' VR fanboi ever. I have a Quest 3 and use it in IL2, VTOL, and DCS, but I understand just how niche it is (and what a PITA it can be to get it running well) and don't expect developers to prioritize it over much more important features like a new map. I don't know a single other person in my real life that even owns a VR headset. It's hard enough finding someone that owns a PC.
If you REALLY want this in VR, I managed to get it to work. I used Desktop+ to 'attach' the screen to my face in VR, then used Opentrack to convert my headset output into a trackIR input. The game is playable like this, a little stuttery in big battles because of the background tasks, but it is VR before VR implementation. :)

(This isn't me saying it'll be easy to implement VR at all, I just wanted to share this)

And you just happen to know many Nuclear Option owners? or what´s your point?

Numbers dont lie. I just stated there are double amount of ACTIVELY PLAYING vtolvr players cxompared to Nuclear option right now, check the steamdatabase. a lot of these vr players will probably also get NO.

Enigma released an interesting survey about the state of flight sims a couple of days ago.
https://youtu.be/6dwfAMnM3Xw

VR players are 31% of people asked (1,538 responses). It's not a majority, but a pretty big chunk of the market. Too big to be ignored if you are making a flight sim these days.
If/When VR gets added, I'd love for it to be an option for controls to be similar, or take inspiration from VTOL VR's "Virtual Sticks".

Tried it on my neighbours rig.... RTX 4090.
FPS was fine.
I just didnt like the travel sickness feeling and it didnt fit over my glasses that well.
After about 30 mins I got headaches and eye strain.
DCS is really not the game to get your VR legs in, its not even a proper dedicated VR game. Much better to spend a bit of time in gentler VR experiences to train your brain. Once you do flying in VR is just amazing, makes it very hard to go back to a flat screen after. But you do need to learn it, just like anything.

If anything, IL-2 is a much better intro to VR flight. It runs pretty smooth, the engine is getting old so it's not a big hog. That situational awareness is second to none.
