There are a number of ways you can break the missile lock:
1. Denying line of sight with the radar (fly behind terrain or an object so the radar can no longer see you).
2. Flying below the radar's coverage (fly below 20 metres above ground level so the radar can no longer track you).
3. Jam the radar truck (requires jamming pods).
4. Notching/beaming (flying perpendicular to the radar source, making it unable to track you).
The radar truck can also be attacked from long range with ARAD-116s. Once the radar truck is destroyed, the launchers become useless. Bear in mind that with semi-active radar-homing missiles like the Stratolance R9, you'll need to maintain conditions where the missile cannot track you for at least 2 continuous seconds to ensure the missile goes dead, as it can reacquire you if the lock is only momentarily lost.
I'm pretty new to the game and learned notching from the tutorial. However I can never seem to get it right against the missiles coming at me labeled as "SARH" - the only times I've ever successfully evaded those have been from flying super low or from breaking LOS to the corresponding radar.
Is that the missile fired by the R9 Stratolance? Either way, what am I doing wrong with the notching against the SARH?
Besides the Stratolance, there's also the RAM-45 SARH SAM, which is launched by the T9K41 Boltstrike (a vehicle that serves as both a radar and a launcher) and the Shard Class Corvette (a ship).
I just tried notching the Stratolance and didn't have any problems. Check the video below if you're interested.

Thanks! Another question if you don't mind, or for anybody reading this: do the SARH missiles behave differently depending on their launch platform? I assume one could have a better or stronger radar than others? Or is a SARH coming at you the same as any SARH coming at you in terms of evasion?
