The radar jammer only works if you fly your plane exactly perpendicular to the radar. Think of it like defending the missile with your wings. Only your "wings" can block it.

That said, the best counter is the carefully fly below radar with the Chicane. Using default hud layout it'll tell you on the center left side your altitude. You need to be at or below about 20m to not be picked up on radar.

Once you're close enough I recommend firing a payload of every Lynchpin and AGM you can carry, it's THE ONLY way to overwhelm enemy air defense.

Make sure you set your targets before you even take off, the thing you want to kill which are the long range, radar guided missiles are the Stratolance's. Forget what the other faction calls them.

There is a technique called `notching` which works in NO. See the explanation :

You can cheese them into wasting their missiles using terrain.

if you do not have a jammer then nosedive to make it lose its energy chasing you

The jammer causes "static" making locks more difficult. To summarize how to evade radar guided missiles, turn 90 degrees to the radar source or put terrain in between you and the radar. Ideally, get low, turn 90 degrees to the source and put a terrain between you and the source while running the jammer. There's no better shield than a mountain.

So far, a combination of flying almost kissing the ground, pointing your wings at them missilesand jamming. Usually flying low is enough, but combine it all for (i think) higher success rate on evading.

But definitely you may want to stay near the ground at all times when posible.

Its somehow sad (imo) to "waste" the X(?) axys (i mean, altitude) but as thing goes, going high is just making yourself visible, targetable and very vulnerable.

*Note that stuff is useless against IR (except if by flying low you can make missiles hit the terrain) -instead, throw flares and if possible try to turn down or totally off the engines.

As a last resort, a couple seconds before impact make sure your pitch limiter is disabled and pull hard. Works a surprising amount of the time

You can get energy kills if your in the FS-12. Mix with jammer. Only works if your 20+KM away.
Do gentle turns, and switch between flying parellel left and parellel right. Full speed and keep it with gentle-moderate turns. You can mix it with flying away if your leaving anyway, or want to avoid follow up missiles.
The missile wont have fuel to follow you and youll see its distance stop getting closer.
Look up DCS radar defence tutorials on youtube for more info.

In my experience the jammer works in other orientations than just notching, but combine it with energy spending maneuvers.
