The starter island (the plane crash site) is visible from the first major biome that is right across from the crash site.
With that said, we are indeed working on a world map and a player crafted "flag" or similar to mark a location for your base.
Please do take some time to leave us an honest review. Reviews help small indie teams like ours greatly. Your feedback will help us build a better game through this Early Access life cycle :)
Once you get there, look towards the south and you will see a small island in the distance. That is where your base is likely located, and it will also have a crashed plane on it. Looks like you are likely there anyway :)
Pros : more resources there, there is a trader that shows up there after you destroy the Pirate Ship that blocks the trade route there. There is also a port there for you to sell items for gold via the market stalls.
Cons:
That island has threats such as tropical hurricane, ghosts and a few hostile creatures.
once you know how to handle living on that island, it is certainly more beneficial to stay there :) . Otherwise the starter island is a peaceful place to be.
However, any port in a storm! So I found a marvelous island of crabs & coconuts (and oodles more banana trees - can't say no to more fruit!) and am making a new base - not seen any ghosts yet
- but a map marker would be really useful, please & thank you :)
